The summit trail begins with a dry landing, though sea-lions make the purpose-built dock more exciting. The trail is a dusty walk through volcanic ash. The only vegetation is the "pioneer Tiquilia plant"and greenish Chamaesyce. These are vital in binding the ash that fans down from the hill.  Bartolome is considered one of the best snorkeling sites in the central Galapagos region, a swim at the foot of the Pinnacle Rock and around its base is the most important deep water snorkel with many different species of parrots fishes, marine turtles, sea lions and sometimes Galapagos penguins.  the opportunity of enjoying the sandy beach where sea lions rest and a variety of wade birds feed on the shore line. A 2.5 km long trail from the gatehouse leads to the surfer's beach Playa Brava with its huge waves and strong tide. Walking about 1 km further down the beach you reach a calm bay known as Playa Mansa. Close to the mangroves you may spot baby White Tip Sharks. Green Marine Turtles, Brown Pelicans and Great Blue Heron. Large Marine Iguanas that  bask on the sand and rocks tend to be a highlight, If you are feeling energetic you can swim, snorkel or hire kayaks on this beach for $10 per hour per person.

Charles Darwin Research Station and Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding Centre (2hrs) (PM) After an early lunch at the Galapagos Deli we will walk with your naturalist guide to visit the Route of the Tortoise and learn about the history of the  people, animals and conservation on the islands as well as about the invasive species threatening our fragile ecosystem. You will also obtain an awareness of important scientific projects such as Galapagos Verde 2050. https://www.darwinfoundation.org/en/about/cdrsYou will also visit the Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding and Rearing Centre which is a long term joint venture between the Charles Darwin  Foundation and the Galapagos National Park. Originally starting in 1965 to protect the giant tortoise population on Pinzon, it now operates across the entire species. The tour will culminate in visiting the taxidermy of Lonesome George, once considered the rarest animal in the  world and spending a few minutes in the Exhibition Hall.

Our trip to the Galapagos was amazing. Brett Peters was very communicative and helped us with every aspect of our planning. During the trip, Brett emailed us daily to make sure everything was going well and to prepare us for the next day’s activities. I would highly recommend Brett at Uniquely Galapagos

....Choosing Galapagos trip as a gift of my 50's , overall, was a huge success! Everything went as planned. Having that planning schedule with all the notes and descriptions was fabulous. I referred to that SO many times for details,I think Uniquely Galapagos Travel with Brett did a great job of summarizing the itinerary & communicating. Pretty impressed with his support, I really appreciated your communication with me during the trip, particularly getting the upgrade back for me I had an absolutely fabulous time. I was traveling alone but never felt alone. Brett you ,did an AMAZING job on this unique trip for me. Just wanted to let you know that the trip was fantastic and everything worked out seamlessly! All the tours Isabela island, San Cristobal, North Seymour and San Bartolomeo you recommended were excellent! The daily cruise with the Santa Fe boat was extremely organized. It was impressive. The food was very good, Santiago the chef was amazing .... and the guide too. Lots of great memories I made, getting very close to Turtles,Boobies ,Penguins, Sea Lions , Iguana ,hammerhead sharks and more wilde animals every day. All the arrangements (flights, daily boat tour, cab transfers) went as planned just cruising around the island made the time pass too quickly. It was a great way to celebrate my 50 years in Galapagos" Brett you was very professional and always available, great information totally open and honest, you was not tiring to sell me anything but gave me great advice. I really enjoyed choosing every single day of this trip with you , that's really helping a lot! I already passed all of your contact information to a lot of my friends. You really have a great person here! Wouldn't trust my travel to anyone else, Brett you are amazing! Overall it was a great vacation and definitely GALAPAGOS are already on my 3 tops best place to visit in the world!!! Exceeded expectations! thanks for make my trip UNIQUE ....AS YOUR TRAVEL AGENCY! The staff from Uniquely Galapagos was outstanding. Brett organized every detail and kept in touch with us before, during, and after our trip. We didn't have to worry about anything. We started our vacation with a city tour of Quito. Lenin was very knowledgeable about the city. He was very warm and welcoming. Stef, our guide is very knowledgeable about everything Galapagos. She was personable and is a great storyteller. Our taxi driver, Alex was also great. The tours that Brett organized were exciting and very well organized. I would highly recommend Uniquely Galapagos for your next adventure. You won't be disappointed.
