After a few years away, we are so excited to return to Bodega Ridge (and now Bodega Cove) on picturesque Galiano Island, in the Sourthern Gulf Islands of BC for a three-night retreat.
Bodega Ridge was recently featured by Vogue magazine!
Joining us as our featured instructors are Alexa Ludeman of Tin Can Knits and Anna Hunter of Longway Homestead, both long time friends of Knit Social. We’ll spend three wonderful days connecting, learning, laughing and creating together in one of the most beautiful locations in Southern British Columbia.
Alexa will be presenting a new workshop, Let's Talk Colourwork:
Slipped stitches, stranded knitting, intarsia...oh the possibilities! We'll take a look at how to combine colours for high impact, and different colourwork techniques too.
Anna will be presenting From Sheep to Stitch: A practical guide to Canadian sheep breeds and their wool and your fibre arts practice:
Each breed of sheep produces a distinct type of wool for knitting and crochet. Understanding the qualities and characteristics of these breeds will inform and accentuate your knitting. Texture, colourwork, cables and drape are all affected by the unique wool breeds.
This workshop will give a brief overview of some Canadian single-breed wools and the variety they can offer to your knitting. We will also briefly explore the history and tradition of these single-breed wools. This workshop is hands on, you will be able to touch, and experiment with breeds in their different forms (raw, carded, spun).
We have added on a Commuter option for this retreat, for those who already live on Galiano or will be staying elsewhere on the Island. All retreat items are included for this option, with the exception of lodging at the Ridge/Cove. All meals (Thursday dinner to Sunday breakfast) are included, as well as workshops, all social/entertainment events, and swag bag.
Regardless of cancellation date, you will receive a full initial deposit refund if we can fill your spot from a waiting list.
If we cannot fill your spot from a waiting list, the cancellation policy is as follows:
Cancellation up to and including September 15: refund less 25%
