About this trip

Every winter the Mexican Peninsula of Baja California plays host to an awe-inspiring migration of thousands of whales. Many species of these gentle giants make the long journey down to the Baja Peninsula to find new mates and give birth away from cold arctic waters up north. Baja is known for having the greatest concentration of migrating marine mammals in the entire world. By joining our Gentle Giants Baja whale watching trips, you will have front row seats to the action!

During this special time of year we’re able to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures. New mothers nurse and care for their calves. Humpback whales put on an amazing show as they search for new mates – breaching out of the water in a thunderous splash. Curious grey whales poke their heads out of the water only inches from the boat to say hello. And gigantic blue whales cruise the calm seas. Whether you’re a diver or non-diver this will be the expedition of a lifetime to see these gentle giants in their natural habitat. The humpback whale watching season for Cabo San Lucas runs from mid December to mid April, the grey and blue whale seasons from mid January through late March. But for 1 month every year the peaks of all 3 seasons cross over allowing us to run these super special whale expeditions to see the best of them all!

I had booked 2-dive excision for the corridor. Unfortunately, conditions were not favorable. We dove the marine park instead. Our guide, Victoria, made sure everyone was in good spirits and enjoyed their dives. Next time I’m in Cabo I would use this shop again.

We had a great time and saw so many different animal species. I love Dive Ninja's approach to keeping the animals safe. The accomodations and food were excellent as well. Sara was an exceptionally helpful person in helping us to make arrangements and making sure we had our trip set!

This was an amazing experience! Our guide Victoria was great, the food was delicious and we loved the accomodation at the beach front. Seeing the mobulas rays so close (and vortex feeding) was one of the best moments in life. This unique conservation project should be supported by everyone who cares about nature and marine life.

Magical, flawless experience, booking 2 more trips I was on the May 17-24, 2024 Mobula Ray Expedition. I have waited until now, a month later, to write a review, thinking the euphoria might have subsided. It has not. This trip gave me exactly what I hoped for, reassurance that despite so much damage by humans, nature will find a way. When I saw the aggregation of the mobula rays (Mobula munkiana) for the first time I was so moved I cried. Despite snotting up my mask, it was definitely a peak experience in my longish life of 72 years. It was a blessing in disguise that my camera failed and I was able to be fully present to the experience. That was only the first day, and we swam with the same hundreds of rays for a couple of hours. On the following days we snorkeled with a small group of the much larger Mobula mobular, (which I swear were showing off for us), more huge aggregations of munkiana, and sea lions. No company can guarantee that you WILL see what you COULD see, but the expertise and intuition of our wonderful wise-beyond-her-years guide, Victoria, and our captain resulted in one magical experience after another. I really cannot say enough about the quality of an expedition with Dive Ninjas. There is not one single suggestion I could make on how any aspect of this could have been improved. Short list of highlights: 1. Dive Ninjas are serious and knowledgeable about conservation and sustainability 2. Max group size is six and they will still do the trip if only 4 3. I felt very "cared for", attended to and safe throughout the expedition, on or off the water. 4. Though I was the only vegan on the trip, the wonderful cooks meticulously cooked separately and deliciously for me. 5. There is very much an egalitarian team atmosphere among the staff. 6. The accommodations are fabulous villas, very private, the whole location rented by Dive Ninjas for their expeditions. I have such complete trust in Dive Ninjas to create a memorable experience, I am already in the process of booking two more expeditions. Bring a GoPro
