Humpback Whales - Cabo San Lucas

Every winter, hundreds of humpback whales gather in the waters around Cabo San Lucas, putting on an incredible display of power and acrobatics. Witness these 15-metre giants launching themselves out of the ocean, slapping their fins and tails, and showcasing their spectacular courtship rituals.

You may even encounter mothers teaching their newborn calves to breach, dive and swim. From breathtaking breaches to intimate moments between mother and calf, Cabo offers an unforgettable front-row seat to the magic of humpback whales in the wild.

Grey Whales - Lopez Mateos, Magdalena Bay

Experience the magic of up-close encounters with Baja’s famously curious grey whales. Often approaching boats just inches away, these gentle giants seem eager to say hello, sometimes even lifting their heads from the water for a truly unforgettable connection. You may even witness mothers bringing their young calves to the surface to meet you. With incredible gatherings of whales, this is a wildlife experience like no other.

Beyond the whales, explore the spectacular sand dunes, keep an eye out for local coyotes and cruise through the region’s beautiful mangrove forests, a vital habitat teeming with wildlife.

Blue Whales - Loreto

Come face to face with the largest animal ever to have lived on Earth! Growing up to 25 metres long and weighing over 200 tonnes, blue whales are truly awe-inspiring. Every winter, these magnificent giants migrate to the nutrient-rich waters around Loreto to feed on krill, offering an incredible opportunity to witness them in their natural habitat.

Loreto is also a hotspot for marine life, where we regularly encounter other spectacular species, including fin and minke whales, alongside huge pods of dolphins. Keep your eyes peeled – you never know what incredible marine life awaits!

Whalesharks & Sealions - La Paz

Dive into an unforgettable encounter with the world's largest fish – the magnificent whale shark! Growing over 12 metres long, these gentle giants glide gracefully through La Paz's clear, shallow waters, filter-feeding on tiny plankton. Snorkel alongside them and witness their incredible size and beauty up close, sometimes even spotting them feeding vertically in the water.

If time allows, we'll also visit La Paz's playful California sea lions. Known for their curious nature and cheeky underwater antics, these adorable ocean residents are the perfect bonus to an already incredible wildlife experience!

What Makes Us Different

We know there are many different kinds of tour operators out there. Some are doing amazing work to help protect their local environment, while others are more concerned with making money by bleeding these same areas dry.

At Dive Ninjas our goal is to set the bar higher. We believe that by trying to create a higher standard in dive tourism the rest of the industry will begin to follow suite. Here are a few of the things we do to help support our oceans, their inhabitants, and the precious ecosystems we all live in.

Your Ninja Crew

Many of our captains for this trip are ex local fisherman that have converted to working purely in marine research and eco-tourism. These ninjas are living proof of the amazing things eco-tourism can accomplish. They have grown an unrivaled passion for the ocean and know the waters around this area unlike any other.

Each trip will have an expert Team Ninja guide working alongside our special guests to teach you about this breathtaking area and keeping everyone safe and enjoying themselves.

The Accommodation

Accommodation varies depending on the destinations and experiences included in your itinerary, but we always aim to find comfortable, welcoming places that complement each location.

In Cabo San Lucas, this may mean staying in quality 4-star hotels with swimming pools in the Marina area. In some of Baja's smaller, more remote communities – such as López Mateos and Loreto – accommodation is generally simpler and more rustic, offering a more authentic taste of local life.

Wherever we stay, we'll make sure you have a comfortable place to relax and recharge between days of adventure. Accommodation is generally based on twin-share rooms, with a single supplement available for an additional charge for those who prefer their own room.

How to get there

The nearest airport is Los Cabos International Airport (airport code SJD).  Los Cabos International is also known as San Jose del Cabo International Airport by some airlines.

We recommend arriving a day early to give you some time to relax and a little padding in case of any travel delays. Easy direct flights can be found from many cities in the US and Mexico. From the US flights are quite cheap – especially from the west coast and southwest US.

From Europe flights usually include a layover in the southwest US or Mexico City. If transiting through the US please check in advance to see if you will need a US transit visa.

Airport Transfers

Our reservations team can help set up a transfer from the airport to the Dive Ninja HQ for you.  Los Cabos airport is serviced daily with domestic & international flights.
