About this trip

"Every Georgian dish is a poem."  -- Alexander Pushkin

Although far from most places, Georgia was once at the crossroads of east and west. As we criss-cross this exceptional country, we’ll discover Georgia's rich history,  delicious cuisine and amazing wines that have been in production for almost eight thousand years.

We will also bask in the radiance of Georgian hospitality, based on the belief that every guest is a gift from God. Nowhere is this more evident than during a supra (or feast), which which will warm hearts and inspire affection. With the help of the toastmaster, or tamada,, who shepherds the progression and enhance the supra with poetry, stories and songs, the supra is a celebration and an expression of Georgians' most precious values: that family and friends are kin and visitors are always welcome.

At the end of our ten days in Georgia, guest may continue overland on a three day post-tour to Armenia (details in the itinerary) I hope you will join me on this exceptional voyage to discover this unique culture and its people on the eastern edge of Europe.

PLEASE NOTE: For the three-day extension to Armenia, please select this at checkout. Your return flight will need to be from Yerevan. If you have any questions, please email me at croyston@globalgourmands.com.

If you are traveling from the US, the flight time is around 24 hours total, typically arriving in Tbilisi in the small hours of the morning (early check-in at the hotel is included), therefore your departure flight may need to be two days before the tour starts.)

What an incredible experience. This trip was a trip of a lifetime. Claudia did a superb job with Madelaine, organizing and putting together a very well-paced schedule. We had the perfect mix of city, country, high-end dinners, country dinners, cooking classes, sight-seeing, and wine-tasting. We were able to get up close and personal with the local communities and got to learn so much about their culture, food, local wine and cooking. Claudia was a great help whenever we needed her and Madelaine is the epitome of grace, humility and knowledge of food. Looking forward to your next trip Madelaine!!!!! THANK YOU for a wonderful time.

The food and wine were delicious, and the portions were generous. The hosts and producers who welcomed us were pleasant and informative. Our local guide was knowledgeable, kept us on schedule with gentle nudging, and had a wonderful sense of humor. We certainly got to sample the cuisine and also many aspects of the culture.
