About this trip

Set between the Black Sea and the Caucasus Mountains at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Georgia has a long history of cross-cultural exchange. Nowhere is this more evident than in its vibrant cuisine, which blends Russian, Turkish and Persian influences with local delicacies like walnuts and handmade cheeses. And, as the world’s oldest wine producers (a legacy that can be traced back 8000 years), Georgians have perfected the art of sharing a drink with friends, old and new. Georgia’s legendary hospitality is increasingly on the radar of food and wine lovers, but it is still off the beaten path for many tourists.

On this tour, we’ll meet artisanal winemakers bringing new, international attention to Georgia with their combination of ancient techniques (like fermenting, blending and storing wine in qvevri, or large clay pots, with modern know-how). We’ll sample their highly distinctive natural wines, experience the winemaking process, try our hands at Georgian cooking, and raise a glass to one of the world’s most delicious places.

This tour will be hosted by sommelier and wine instructor Timothy Campbell, who enjoys sharing the magic of wine and exploring the world’s most dynamic wine regions. Tim is a connoisseur of Georgian food & wine and will be giving daily lectures and tasting guidance.

Please note, average travel time to/from Georgia is 24 hours, with the Georgia time being 10 hours ahead of CST, your departure flight needs to leave two days before the tour starts.

Delicious Highlights:

  • Explore Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions and discover the contemporary winemakers at the forefront of Georgian winemaking today
