Join SHE Ventures to visit Canada’s smallest national park, Georgian Bay Islands. This park may be small, but it is home to more snakes, salamanders, turtles, and frogs than any other national park in Canada. We will take a quick boat ride to Beausoleil Island where we will camp overnight at Honeymoon Bay. Unlike most backcountry trips, there’s no long hike or portage required to reach camp. You’ll only need to carry your gear roughly 100 m from the dock. That means you can pack a little more luxuriously, bring some extra comforts, and ease into backcountry camping without worrying about keeping your pack ultralight (but we still need to fit ourselves and our gear into the boat, so don’t go overboard… pun intended).
Honeymoon Bay also has food storage lockers, so there’s no need to live on freeze-dried meals or carefully squeeze everything into a bear canister. This makes the trip an especially great option for anyone who is new to the backcountry or prefers a more relaxed offering.
Beausoleil Island supports 33 species of reptiles and amphibians, including 11 of the 17 snake species in Ontario. We will spend the Friday evening learning how to set up camp, use gear, and getting acquainted with the group! Our guest yoga instructor will lead the group through a 60 min gentle flow practice and guided meditation.
Saturday, we will hike ~16.5 km from Honeymoon Bay to Cedar Springs via Christian Beach, returning to Honeymoon Bay to enjoy a guided yoga and meditation session at the beach.
Cancellations made 30+ days in advance of the departure are fully refundable, minus a 5% administrative fee. Cancellations made outside of the 30-day window are non-refundable. However, all trips are transferable to another qualified woman aged 18 or older prior to trip departure.
A minimum of 4 participants are required to run this trip. Registrants will be fully refunded if 4+ people have not registered 1 week in advance of departure.
