Welcome to Ghana

When you arrive at the airport, you'll go through customs, pick up your bags, and exit the airport.Spot us at arrivals holding the "ONYX GROUP" sign!

We'll stop at a Forex Bureau to exchange currency, then head off to get adjusted and settled in. Take some time to rest and unwind after the long flight.

Food and fellowship are our love languages in Ghana, so we'll grab dinner to officially say "Woezɔ" (Welcome).

Day 2

Day 2 image

Accra Beach Experience

What better way to recover from jetlag than a day at the beach? Accra is a coastal city dotted with many beaches, castles, and forts.

We'll spend the afternoon watching the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash against the shore. Be sure to indulge in the delicious fresh fruit juices, coconut water, and tasty treats such as charcoal-grilled tilapia and spicy kebabs.

Day 3

Day 3 image

Central Volta Region

After a taste of Accra,  it's only natural that we venture off into the Volta Region!

After breakfast, we will take off for an overnight excursion. The trip to Volta can take up to 3-4 hours, and the road conditions are extremely poor and bumpy. In some parts of the region, we may have zero to little access to cell service or internet connections. In other words, it's best to think of our time in the Volta Region as a "retreat."

We'll bask in traditional Ewe culture with a special visit to the Chief of Awate Agame.  In a joyous and vibrant ceremony, we will engross in the popular Ghanaian culture of naming.  At the end of the day, we will head to our hotel in Ho for a well-deserved night's rest.

Day 4

Day 4 image

Central Volta Region

On Day 4, we'll explore the best that the Volta has to offer. Its landscape of rolling hills and valleys, with rocky outcrops, lagoons, rivers and waterfalls, is one of nature's most attractive gifts to Ghana.

Expect to feed curious monkeys at Tafi Atome, hike to Wli Falls for a swim, witness kente weaving in action, and much, much more.

Day 5

Day 5 image

Southern Volta Region

On Day 5, we'll explore the endless stretch of palm-lined beaches in the Southern Volta. With the Volta River on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, this gorgeous estuary is our very own paradise.

Let's sneak in a few adventures before heading back to Accra.

Day 6

Day 6 image

Rest & Relaxation Day

After a fun and exciting trip to the Volta, let's recuperate with some R&R in Accra.

You might opt for a spa day with a masseuse, an art museum tour, lunch at a trendy restaurant, or a jewelry making class with local bead artists.

Day 7

Day 7 image

Cape Coast

We will grab breakfast and jump right in with a day trip to Cape Coast. Cape Coast is approximately 3 hours away from Accra by bus. We will stop at Kakum National Park, before heading over to the historic Cape Coast Castle.  At Kakum National Park, we will take a 45-minute hike and cross over canopy bridges suspended 130 feet above ground.

Be sure to take in the beautiful panoramas on this beautiful trek!

Day 8

Day 8 image

Accra City Tour

To be honest, there's nothing we could say here to capture the essence of Accra. You'll just have to experience it yourself!  Traffic can be rough, but isn't a gridlock just an opportunity to fully take in the sights, sounds, and scents of the city?! With a population of 2.27 million, this hub for creativity and culture is truly a wanderer's wonderland.

In our tour of Accra, we'll check out some of Ghana's most prized national treasures, including Independence Square, Makola Market, and the Centre for National Culture. We'll do lots of shopping in the markets of the city center, and there will certainly be a crash course on "bargaining."

We will also get a chance to relish in Accra's nightlife. As a tale of caution, most late nights turn into very early mornings, so don't skip your power nap!

Day 9

Day 9 image

Free Day

Grab some breakfast and prepare for a relaxing day. You might have a picnic at Aburi Botanical Gardens, explore the city one last time, or finalize your souvenir purchases.

We will convene for a farewell dinner, and raise a glass to future adventures together.
