Your Ghana adventure begins with a visit to Accra, Ghana's bustling capital.  We will start the day by touring the city's beating heart.  You will go to local markets bursting with amazing smells, tastes, and colors.  

To get even closer to Ghanaian culture, we will have the chance to enjoy an authentic Ghanaian drum lesson.

Overnight stay at the Kempenski Hotel - breakfast included (or similar).

Today we will head to Kumasi (30-minute flight).  Kumasi is the long-lost capital of the powerful Ashanti kingdom.  The second largest city in the country is still tied to Ashanti tradition. 

Once in Kumasi we will explore the traditions that still linger below the surface.  The day will start with a visit to the traditional Adinkra Village. Here you will enjoy an authentic Kente weaving and stamp printing experience followed by a tour of a local cocoa farm where we will get to know how these beans became the best quality cocoa in the world. 

Want to get even deeper into the local culture? You will have the chance to attend your own Asante naming ceremony where the elders will give you a soul and spirit name. 

That evening we will fly back to Accra.

We will tour the beautiful Aburi Botanical Gardens. 

Today will be a little lighter day.

You will stay overnight at the Kempenski Hotel - Breakfast included (or similar).

You will get knee-deep into Ghana's slavery's past by stepping on the path thousands of enslaved captives walked.  Our journey begins in Dokor Nsuo, or Slave River, where prisoners had the chance to bathe before a three-week naked trek through the dense forest.

Then we will go back to the city and visit the Elmena Slave Dungeon. We will walk into the bowels of the dungeon.  You will be able listen to first-hand accounts of the country's grueling slavery route and go up to the Door of Return, the last frontier between the dungeons and the huge slave ships waiting on the port. 

Afterwards, we will return to Coconut Grove where you will have time to dine, ride local horses and or just relax.

You will stay overnight at the Ridge Royal Hotel (or similar) in Cape Coast.

We will venture to the Cape Coast Slave Dungeon in Fort Carlsborg which is under Swedish administration.

You will experience walking through the Door of No Return, only this time we will also experience a return through the same doors.  You will walk through the ancestral Cape Coast Township. 

After lunch, we will visit Kakum National Park.  Home to endangered species such as the forest elephant, the bongo antelope, the Diana monkey, and its rare butterflies and birds.  The forest also provides an opportunity to spot much of Ghana's indigenous plant life.

We will walk the canopy walkway which is the longest and highest of its kind in West Africa.

We will start our day with the Contemporary Art & Design tour of Accra including a visit to the Artist Allane Art Gallery; and The Fantasy Collin Makers, who make coffins to reflect a person's affiliation.  We will make our way to the Nubuke Foundation and the Shops in Accra.

We will have lunch at a local restaurant with local cocktails.

Enjoy a day to explore on your own and chill in Accra.

Later you will join us for a farewell dinner

Spend the day shopping in Accra then head to the airport to return home

It is time to say goodbye to your Ghana adventure and all of your new friends.  You will be transported to the airport for your departure.
