This was my first trip to Ghana and as an experienced traveler, this was not up to the standards that I am used to or expected. I paid a premium, expecting an upscale, tailor-made African experience. Unfortunately, this trip was filled with multiple mishaps and poor execution. I found out from other travelers the excursions they attended were not offered (i.e. ancestral naming ceremony and homecoming experience, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Mole National Park, Larabanga Mosque, visit the Hippos in Wechiau). The experiences to me, was more important than partying every night. Every excursion we did, I could have booked myself on trip advisor. Why were none of the escorts trained to give us lessons about Ghana? I asked lots of questions and the answers were not very detailed. I was hoping on those very long bus rides that we would be told stories about the region and the people. The late pickups to parties that started really late, and the early excursions led to late starts. I felt we missed out on things because we were always waiting. The food was also an issue for me. I was never asked about allergies or restrictions and I pre-paid for food I never ate. I am allergic to tomatoes, and I don't eat pork. We were served jollof rice (tomato base) and chopped pork on the bus. Which sat at room temp for hours before being served. No other option offered so I was forced to wait for hours until I got back to my hotel to pay for a meal. We visited a restaurant where my only option was to eat plain white rice because all the food served was very spicey and I could not tolerate it. I missed the last excursion to the falls from pure exhaustion of another day of waiting for transportation and while I was upset, I paid for it, I heard it was a day from hell from those who did attend! There were highlights, the staff was very friendly, as accommodating as they could have been under the circumstances. The parties were fun and had a great vibe (outside of the 3 hour wait for the white party where we were not even offered a drink!) Overall, my expectations were very high so I was disappointed. There were many other things that happened not mentioned because we stated them in the group chat. I wish you all great success in the future and I hope the feedback from everyone is taken into consideration for future clients. I plan to return to return to Ghana but unfortunately, I will use another travel group.
