Day 1—The African Adventure to Ghana begins with a departure from Chicago O'Hare Airport to Accra, Ghana. Airfare is not included, but it can be added to your payment plan 6 months prior to departure, or you can purchase it in full with your credit card.

Morning arrives at Accra airport, assist and transfer to your hotel by Heritage Tourism Services staff.
Depending on the time of arrival, we can visit the fishing village of
James Town for a walking tour with a brief stopover at the James Town Café and
the Brazil house, the ancestral home of a group of Afro-Brazilian returnees, is now an
art space and gallery.
Overnight LABADI BEACH HOTEL
The morning after breakfast, depart for Accra and go on a city tour, visiting the following places:
1. W.E.B. DU Bois Centre for Pan African Studies and tour the burial place of the father of Pan Africanism.
2. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park was built in honor of the first President of Ghana and a great Pan-Africanist.
3. The National Museum to see the historical and cultural regalia of the country
Drive through to view the International Conference Centre, Statehouse, and Parliament of Ghana, where the country's 275 legislative bodies are located.
- James Town, one of the historic towns in Accra, has a lighthouse constructed by the British as a navigational aid for trading vessels sailing through the Gulf of Guinea. The Independence Square in Accra is Ghana’s official ceremonial grounds, and it houses the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It has a seating capacity of 25,000 and was the venue where President Clinton was hosted during his March 1998 visit to Ghana. A record 500,000 people thronged the square to give a tumultuous welcome to the first serving US president to visit Ghana. It hosts the yearly independence celebration of pupils, students, and workers, with the country's president taking the official salute. Also, view the independence arch built to commemorate Ghana’s independence on the 6th of March 1957 with the country’s motto “Freedom and Justice.” -The Jubilee House, the presidential Mansion of Ghana, was built by Ex-President Kuffour in 2008.
Have lunch in a local restaurant and finally visit the arts center, which houses the Centre for National Culture in the Greater Accra region. It is a souvenir market where many arts, crafts, textiles, and other artifacts are displayed and sold.
Overnight at LABADI BEACH HOTEL
Morning, depart after breakfast to Assin Manso and visit the Slave River (Donkor Nsu), where the slaves were forced to have their last bath on their Southern march to the coast for shipment. Visit the burial site of two former slaves whose remains were brought from the U.S. and Jamaica during the first Emancipation Day celebration in August 1998. Libation will be poured for the souls of the departed. In the afternoon, depart for the Kakum National Park. This evergreen Forest covers about 360 km2 and has trees reaching about 65 meters. It has animals including Elephants, Bongos, and primates, as well as over 400 species of butterflies. Walk through the forest to learn the medicinal use of different species of plants and experience a canopy walkway.
Evening Nightlife. Overnight Oasis Beach
Morning departs from Cape Coast for the African Heritage Centre for FREE INDIGENOUS FOOD lunch. Then, pay a courtesy call on the Chief and elders of the town together with Kofi, who is the Babahene (chief of all princes and princesses of the Town), accompanied by cultural performances. Tour the facility and go through a traditional naming ceremony to give an African name and its meaning.
Evening Overnight Oasis Beach
Morning departure after breakfast and visit the Cape Coast Castle, built by the British in 1665, and Houses the West Africa Historical Museum. Continue to visit the Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482. It represents the first and largest European fortification along the African coast, under UNESCO protection as a World Heritage monument. Tour the castle and pour libation for the ancestors at the door of no
return.

Start the day with last-minute shopping, including a visit to the Makola market.
Also, visit the Arts Centre for National Culture (Ghana’s most prominent craft
market). Morning free for last-minute shopping, collection of clothes, and packing.
