Your Ghana volunteerism adventure begins with a trip to the Volta region where we will be serving the Dadome community for 5 days.  We’ll start the day by having some delicious continental breakfast and popular delicious local dishes offered at the restaurant. 

We will plan on leaving the capital and head out to the volta region, a 3-hour drive. Upon arrival, we will check in to our hotel and settle for dinner shortly after.  We will take the evening to relax and take a quick tour of the resort. There will be amenities such as hot tubs and swimming pools for those looking to take a dip. 

We'll gather at 9 pm for our final preparation for the next day's projects and a recap of the outline for all events taking place that week.

Today we'll head to the Dadome basic School, one of the oldest schools in the Mepe traditional area. It was founded in 1952 before the independence of the nation. The school serves many of the traditional areas in the region. 

We will be attending a morning assembly for formal introductions to the school and community. Shortly after we will begin the construction project to paint 6 classrooms within a 3-hour span. Volunteers will be split into groups and assigned specific tasks to help break down the workload and efficiently optimize the process.  

From 8 am-noon, we will break at lunchtime for 1 hour and resume at 1 pm. The next hour will be wrapping up paintings. Team can with Children at the end of the project. We will plan on heading back to the Hotel at 4pm. Well have enough time to shower and decompress and catch up for a debriefing over dinner at 6 pm.

Today we will return to the school and complete phase 2 of the construction projects. We will be fixing the 2 classroom floors for the KG block. With help from professional labor, we will be excavating rocks and hauling sand and cement to the classroom. We will be mixing mortar and laying the foundation for the classroom floor.  After taking breakfast at the hotel we will head to the school to commence this project. We will take lunch at noon.  After completing the project and cleaning up afterward. volunteers will now be able to interact and spend time with the children and village community members in attendance.

Today we will be focusing on our second part of the volunteerism program to educate, empower and inspire the children. We will be teaching 5 daily workshops for two days. Volunteers will be delivering speeches and training on curated topics relating to early childhood development and college success. Our mission is to ensure that we leave the children with rich educational content and information on life skills. Topics will include but are not limited to 

* Girl and boy empowerment (k1-k6, JHS 1-3)

*Finance and Entrepreneurship 

* Time Management and  Studying habits

*Good health and Well-being(UN SD No. 3)

*Equity (UN SD No. 5 and 10)

* Cleaning

* Climate Action/Sharing and caring about the planet(UN SD No. 13)

We will be completing our workshops and trainings for the children and teachers.

Today we will hand out all our donations to the kids and celebrate in the rich cultural celebration with food and dancing to African drum beats and performances by the kids. 

We begin to explore the local art history tour in the Volta region by visiting several popular locations that hold sentimental value to the people of Ghana. We will receive a good lecture and touring experience by famous sculptures and artists from the community.

We will be visiting some wildlife and hiking one of the forest reserves famous for nearly dozens of primary animal species including antelopes, bats, birds (such as violet Turaco, Paradise Flycatcher, Green Turaco Red-billed Hornbill, Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird, and Red-necked Buzzard), baboons, cats, duiker, guinea fowls, kobs, green monkeys, monitor lizards, African python, royal python, and zebras.
