Ghorepani Poonhill Trek Overview

 

A company representative will take you to the hotel after you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. On the second day, you will take a long drive to Pokhara via the Prithvi Highway. The drive will take you along green hills and riverside roads. From Pokhara, you will again take a short drive to Nayapul via Lumle from where our real trekking begins. Along with Modi Khola, you will trek through the forested area of rhododendron crossing a few suspension bridges.

The trail passes through Ulleri and proceeds towards Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a beautiful settlement, which is a gateway to the highlight of the trek – Poon Hill. From Ghorepani, you will now start your hike to Poon Hill through stony paths. Once at Poon Hill (3193m), the panoramic views of Bahrashikhar (7647m), Nilgiri (7061m), Hiunchuli (6434m), Annapurna Range, and other snow-capped mountains. With a content heart, you will now descend back to Tadapani and then to Ghandruk.

Ghandruk is a charming Gurung settlement that is famous for the home stays it offers. The Himalayas also are in touching distance allowing for rapturous moments in the village. Crossing several settlements such as Birethanti and Nayapul, you will now drive back to Pokhara. September to December and March to June are the best time to visit poon hill. The poon hill trek difficulty is comparatively easy than most of the treks in Nepal.

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a company representative will receive you and take you to the hotel in Kathmandu. For the rest of the day, you can explore the nearby streets filled with Newari art, culture, and architecture. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) by tourist bus
On the second day, you will be driving towards Pokhara by tourist bus. Starting your drive from Kathmandu, you will continue your journey via Prithvi Highway. The drive will take you through the green hills of western Nepal. Crossing suspension bridge at Muglin, you will reach Dumre where you will stop for a lunch. Upon reaching Pokhara, you will get a distant glimpse of Annapurna ranges and Machhapuchhre (6997m). Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 3
Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri (1960m)
From Pokhara, you will take a short ride to Nayapul via Lumle. Along the drive, you will notice the gradual increase in the natural vegetation of this region. Once at Nayapul, our real trekking begins. Alongside the bank of Bhurungdi Khola, you will ascend towards the settlement of Hile via Birethanti. After a quick lunch at Hile, you will continue your trek crossing few suspension bridges and waterfalls. Enjoying a close-up view of Annapurna South (7219m), you will finally reach Ulleri via Tikhedhunga. Overnight stay in Ulleri.

Day 4
Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2880m)
Leaving behind the village of Ulleri, you will start your trek towards Ghorepani. The trail takes you through green forest of rhododendron and oak. You will also walk past stone paved paths and lush landscapes. A steep climb to the top of the ridge takes you to Nangethanti. From here, you will reach your destination along with the sublime views of Himalayas. Ghorepani is a beautiful settlement, which is a gateway to the most important point of the trek – Poon Hill. The Gurung communities will offer you mesmerizing hospitality. Overnight stay in Ghorepani.

Day 5
Hike to Poon Hill (3193m) and trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2630m)
Early in the morning, you will start your hike towards Poon Hill. Ascending through stairs ways and stony paths, you will reach Poon Hill. Here, you can get glorious views of Nilgiri (7061m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m) and many other snow-capped peaks. Later, you will return to Ghorepani and start your trek towards Tadapani. The trail passes through Deurali and proceeds towards Banthanti. Along the way, you will cross-forested area of rhododendron and bamboo. Overnight in Tadapani.

Day 6
Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk
Along with an enchanting view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m), you will descend through the forest of rhododendron crossing small rivers. Moving forward, you will walk past Bhaise Kharka following the sloppy trails. Finally, you will reach your destination. Once at Ghandruk, you can visit local museum, a monastery, and nearby temples. Ghandruk is also the second biggest Gurung Village and sports glorious views of the Himalayas to the north. Overnight stay at the guesthouse in Ghandruk.

Day 7
Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul |Drive to Pokhara 820m
After breakfast, you will start your trek towards Nayapul. Alongside the bank of Modi Khola, the trail passes through Syauli Bazaar and proceeds towards Birethanti. From Birethanti, you will reach Nayapul. From here, you will take a short drive to beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, you can spend the evening roaming around Phewa Lake. Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 8
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus
Bidding farewell to the Himalayas, you will take a long drive back to the capital. Crossing the settlement of Dumre and Muglin, you will drive along with Trishuli River. On the way, you will also get an opportunity to observe the settlements of Brahmin and Chhetri communities. After a quick lunch at Muglin, you will head towards Thankot to reach Kathmandu. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 9
Departure from Kathmandu
Today is your last day in Nepal. We will drop you off two hours prior to your scheduled flight. You can also share your experience with us on the way to airport. Goodbye and have a safe journey.
