Bhutan is a beautiful country with historical mystery, stunning natural scenery and rich Buddhist culture. Popular for the pristine environment and harmonious society, this landlocked country resides in the eastern end of the Himalayas surrounded by China to the North and the Republic of India to the East and West. The Indian state, Sikkim, lies further east of Bhutan and separates it from Nepal whereas Assam, another Indian state, separates it from Bangladesh further South. On arrival at NJP / IXB you will be greeted and transferred to Pheuntsholing – The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India, Pheuntsholing (also sometimes spelled Phuntsholing) is the second largest town in Bhutan (population around 40,000) and is located on the Indian border, next to the town of Jaigaon . Evening free to rest and recuperate. Overnight stay at hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel. Permit has to be obtained from the Bhutan Department of Immigration that opens at 9am (Permit procedure may take time). After obtaining the Permit, drive to Thimphu. On the way, visit Kharbandi monastery ,visit Damchu waterfall , visit handicraft market of Thimpu for shopping, On arrival at Thimphu check in at the hotel. Overnight in Thimphu.

Those who not wants to go on hike, being a bit strenuous, can visit other local sights like the National museum Ta Dzong –The first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong (also known as Paro Dzong) which has a long and fascinating history. Afternoons proceed for sightseeing includes Drukgyel Dzong, the ruined fortress from where Bhutanese repelled several invasions by Tibetan armies. Later visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom. Evening stroll around Paro town and peep into some local handicraft’s stores. Night Return to the hotel. Overnight at Paro.
