      About this trip

Challenge and change your perspective. Between its Khmer heritage and more recent Khmer Rouge scars, Cambodia has a deep history to explore. Our seven days/six nights in Phnom Penh and Kampot will be led by dynamic young leaders in business, education and the arts more focused on creating their country's future than reliving its past. Scroll to see the sample itinerary.

Jodi Morris leads this unique Global Leadership Trip  to connect us to the economic and cultural beat of Cambodia. We meet entrepreneurs and leaders who illustrate their country’s economic and social trajectory. Specialized experiences help us better understand culture and history. We dive into the educational landscape with Room to Read, visiting schools and meeting with teachers, mentors, and students, as well as Room to Read’s in-country staff. We do all this as a small, curious-minded community

      Cambodia

Cambodia's at an interesting inflection point (article), making now the perfect time to visit.

If this is your first time visiting Cambodia, we recommend exploring pre and post-trip. Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) is easily accessible from many Southeast Asian airports. We recommend arriving in Phnom Penh 1-2 days early to explore key Cambodian tourist destinations like the National Museum of Cambodia, the Royal Palace, and the Killing Fields Museum (S-21 Prison and Choeung Ek Killing Fields), Our trip ends in Kampot, and Sihanoukville is the perfect jumping off point to ferry to Cambodia's incredible islands.

Don't try to do too much. The weather in Cambodia is hot, and you'll inevitably be fighting jet lag. Take your time, and appreciate Cambodia's history prior to our launch into its present and future.

More Info (Visas, Vaccines & Insurance)

      Visas

In order to enter Cambodia, you will need a valid passport with at least two blank pages and six months validity remaining at time of entry. Most travelers will be required to obtain a single-entry tourist visa, valid for one month from the date of entry into Cambodia. Tourists can obtain the Cambodian visa at the airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and at all major border crossings. To save time, we recommend applying online for a Cambodia e-visa prior to travel. The visa fee is $36 USD. Please review Cambodia's visa requirements.

We highly encourage U.S. travelers to register with the U.S. Government Smart Traveler Enrollment Program by visiting the STEP website and to review the U.S. Department of State Cambodia Overview.

      Medical Recommendations and Immunization Information

All trip participants should visit their doctor at least 4-6 weeks in advance of their departure date. Participants should ask their doctor for recommendations about travel medications and immunizations. For more information on immunizations either recommended or needed for travel to Cambodia, please visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website.

      Travel Insurance

We recommend that participants purchase travel insurance, or ensure their regular insurance plans cover travel-related illnesses and injuries. Insurance must cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses. All participants are requested to provide insurance information prior to travel. We strongly recommended you also obtain coverage for trip cancellation, interruption, curtailment, and for personal property.

      Meet & Kick-Off Dinner

Palace Gate Hotel, a new boutique hotel which opened in 2017, will serve as our luxurious yet convenient base for our time in Phnom Penh. Housed in a restored French colonial villa adjacent to the Royal Palace, the hotel offers views of the Tonle Sap River and is conveniently situated in the heart of Cambodia’s lively capital city.

Jodi curated an incredible learning experience seeing Rwanda through many different lens. After a quick overview of where Rwanda has been and where Rwanda is now, Jodi brought together an amazing collection of leaders, entrepreneurs and students to paint a picture of where Rwanda is going next. Highlights: attending a community event post-umaganda to hear what's top of mind (everything from marital spats to calling on every adult to be responsible for the children of the community), meeting the future leaders of Africa as they embark on their life journeys, wandering the mountain villages and seeing children learning how to use the Microsoft suite. If you're looking for a well-rounded deep-dive into Rwanda, Jodi is the best guide!

Jodi Morris has done it again and I'm not sure how she will top herself, however I have no doubt that she will. Rwanda 2023 was a life changing trip for myself and kids. We experienced things that one can only dream about. We had the opportunity to participate in Umaganda, a countrywide community service program designed to unite and strengthen the nation at a local level. We were also immersed in the fast-paced entrepreneurial sector bringing new ideas to life to overcome challenges. Additionally, we spent time at the newly constructed African Leadership University, engaging with bright minded African students determined to change the world with their amazing ideas and leadership. Because of Jodi's connections and friendships, we were invited into the thriving art scene, dined with the dynamic Minister of Infrastructure and enjoyed a delicious lunch in the home of two American expats intent on bringing their dream to life by building Virunga Mountain Spirits, a potato vodka distillery, run by women and 100% sustainable. It was a magical journey, renewing my sense of resilience and curiosity. Pam Silvaroli

Traveling with Jodi and Connecting Growth Globally is a life changing experience!!! The CGG trips are not like any other group trip experience! Each trip combines history, culture, and sightseeing with meeting lots of wonderful, innovative, and bold young people who are finding new ways to move their country forward through education, activism, and business. For me, it is all about the people and it is exhilarating to see how much energy and creativity these young Guatemalans are bringing to making a better future for their country despite experiencing some pretty rough times in the not too distant past. And the people who sign up for these trips are adventurous, fun and interesting, too. I also learned a lot from them! Sign up for the next CGG trip! You won't regret it!!!

The CGG Rise Up Guatemala trip was amazing. There is nothing better than combining learning about a new country with learning how the people are actually working to solve problems in their communities .. and doing so in community with thoughtful committed traveling partners. We enjoyed the beauty and culture of Guatemala at Lake Atitlan and in Antigua and at Pacaya Volcano, and we also met and learned from the amazing young leaders in the Rise Up Network, Las Ninas Lederan. We are already talking about creating another opportunity to travel with CGG and Rise Up!
