Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Virginia’s Historic Heartland
Today we arrive in the Richmond or Norfolk area and travel together to Williamsburg, Virginia, a cradle of American faith and freedom. As we settle into our accommodations, we’ll enjoy a warm welcome dinner with fellow travelers and a brief devotional time to center our hearts for the journey ahead. Surrounded by the beauty of colonial-era charm, we begin our tour where the seeds of liberty and spiritual heritage first took root.
Day 2 – Faith and Freedom at Yorktown
This morning, we step back into the heart of the American Revolution with a visit to the American Revolutionary War Museum at Yorktown. Through powerful exhibits and immersive experiences, we’ll explore the struggle for independence and the role that faith played in sustaining both soldiers and citizens during this defining era.
In the afternoon, we’ll walk the grounds of the Yorktown Battlefield, where General George Washington led American and French forces to a decisive victory. As we reflect on the courage and conviction that shaped our nation’s founding, we’ll pause for a moment of prayer and reflection, honoring the sacrifices made for liberty—then and now.
Day 3 – Living History in Colonial Williamsburg
Today, we step into the 18th century with a full day at Colonial Williamsburg, the world’s largest living history museum. As we stroll along cobblestone streets and interact with costumed interpreters, we’ll gain insight into the daily life, faith, and values of early American colonists. From historic churches and legislative halls to humble homes and tradesmen’s shops, each moment offers a window into a time when spiritual conviction and the pursuit of liberty walked hand in hand.
We’ll gather mid-day at Bruton Parish Church, where generations worshipped and prayed for wisdom in a new world. As the day unfolds, we’ll reflect on the spiritual roots that helped birth a nation, and enjoy a delicious group meal in a colonial tavern, rich with historic charm and hospitality.
Day 4 – Scripture, Sacrifice, and the Soul of a Nation
We begin our day at the inspiring Museum of the Bible, where the history, impact, and narrative of Scripture come to life through cutting-edge exhibits and immersive experiences. As we explore the influence of the Bible on American culture, justice, and leadership, we’ll see how God’s Word continues to shape hearts and nations.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a prayerful walk along the National Mall, pausing at powerful memorials that speak of valor and sacrifice:
The World War II Memorial
The Korean War Veterans Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial, where we’ll reflect on Lincoln’s enduring faith and leadership
The moving Prayer for the Nation Memorial, a fitting space to join together in prayer for our country’s future
As we honor those who gave everything for freedom, our hearts are drawn to gratitude—for their sacrifice, and for the grace that sustains our land.
Day 5 – Honor, Heritage, and Hope for Tomorrow
Our day begins with a visit to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, the beloved home of our nation’s first president. As we tour the mansion, gardens, and tomb, we’ll reflect on Washington’s leadership, character, and deep personal faith—an anchor that guided him through the birth of a nation.
Next, we journey to Arlington National Cemetery, a place of solemn beauty and reverence. Here, we’ll witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and pay respects at the Eternal Flame of President John F. Kennedy. As we walk among the rows of white headstones, we’ll take time to pray in gratitude for those who laid down their lives in service.
We close the day at the towering Iwo Jima Memorial, also known as the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial—a powerful tribute to the enduring spirit of American bravery. Standing in the shadow of sacrifice and legacy, we’ll conclude our tour with a moment of worship and thanksgiving, reminded of the freedom we enjoy and the faith that sustains it.
Day 6 – A Nation Preserved: Courage, Sacrifice, and the Hand of Providence
Our morning begins at Fort McHenry, the birthplace of our national anthem and a powerful symbol of resilience under fire. As we stand along the ramparts overlooking Baltimore Harbor, we’ll picture the night of September 13, 1814—when, through smoke and cannon fire, the sight of a tattered yet still-flying flag stirred Francis Scott Key to pen the words that would become The Star-Spangled Banner. Here, we’ll reflect on Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength,” remembering how faith has sustained Americans through trials both seen and unseen.
Inside the fort, we’ll explore exhibits and stories of ordinary citizens and soldiers whose steadfast courage defended a young nation still learning how to stand. As the enormous flag is unfurled, students will consider how God weaves perseverance and hope into the fabric of a people.
In the afternoon, we travel to the hallowed grounds of the Gettysburg Battlefield and National Cemetery, where the costliest battle of the Civil War reshaped the course of American history. Walking the fields where thousands gave “the last full measure of devotion,” we’ll pause to honor their sacrifice and reflect on Jesus’ words in John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
At the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, we will stand where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address—a call for national renewal, unity, and a “new birth of freedom” rooted in human dignity. As we read his timeless words, students will be invited to see how the struggle for liberty and justice is inseparable from the biblical truth that all people are created in God’s image.
From the ramparts of Fort McHenry to the quiet rows of Gettysburg’s memorial stones, today offers a profound reminder: a nation endures not only through strength and strategy, but through faith, courage, and the conviction that freedom is a gift entrusted to us by God.
Day 7 – Justice, Wisdom, and the Power of Truth
On our final full day we will visit each of the three branches of government. We first turn our attention to the pillars of American governance—truth, justice, and the rule of law—with visits that underscore how deeply our nation’s legal and legislative institutions have been influenced by faith.
We begin at the Supreme Court of the United States, where the words “Equal Justice Under Law” are etched in stone. As we stand before this symbol of justice, we’ll reflect on the biblical call to righteousness and mercy, praying for our nation’s judges and leaders who bear the weight of discerning truth.
Next, we tour the U.S. Capitol Building and House of Representatives, where so many historic decisions have been made—and where Scripture and prayer have long played a role in guiding national policy. Time permitting, we’ll observe the magnificent Capitol Rotunda, adorned with imagery of faith, liberty, and divine guidance.
Our final stop on Capitol Hill is the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world and home to the Gutenberg Bible—a reminder that God’s Word has always been a cornerstone of knowledge and truth. We’ll take time to marvel at the architecture, rich symbolism, and spiritual roots of this treasured institution.
We'll finish the day with a walk through past the White House. An iconic spot where the leader of the Executive Branch, our President, leads our proud every day!
As we conclude our journey, we gather one last time for prayer and gratitude, remembering that the story of faith and freedom continues through us, as we return home inspired to live with purpose, conviction, and hope.
Day 8 – Reflections & Farewell
As our journey comes to a close, we’ll enjoy a relaxed morning with time permitting for a few final sites or moments of reflection. Whether it's a stroll through a nearby monument or quiet prayer with fellow travelers, we cherish these last hours together in the city that has inspired our hearts and strengthened our faith.
We'll then transfer to the airport for our flight home, carrying with us not only memories of powerful places and stories, but a renewed sense of purpose, gratitude, and the profound connection between faith and freedom.
