I'm sorry your son had a disappointing experience on the last day of his trip. Losing valuable items like a wallet and souvenirs can be frustrating and stressful, and understandably, you expected a prompt response from our tour company. I appreciate you speaking with me today, and I hope the motorcoach company can locate your son's wallet and souvenirs in their lost and found department and that they are returned to you promptly. I will follow up with you once I hear back from Rose. 

My son left his wallet and a bag of souvenirs on the bus when he returned home. I submitted two inquiries to Blue Ridge Tours through my WeTravel account page, but never received a response. Still waiting a week later.  Disappointed.

It's fantastic to hear your son enjoyed his trip to Washington, DC! It's always a great experience to explore new places and learn about our nation's capital's rich history and culture. Visiting iconic landmarks like the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian Museums can be educational and inspiring. Trips like this can also help students gain a better understanding of how the government works and the critical role that our country plays on a global stage. I hope the student has many more opportunities to travel and learn in the future!

My daughter had been looking forward to this trip all year. Unfortunately, it was not the experience she had been promised.

During the night tour, the tour guide left the bus and did not return for 45 minutes, leaving everyone waiting and up very late. She gave no explanation as to where she had been all that time.

My daughter was very disappointed with the bus . There was a live cockroach in her seat! The bus smelled like chemicals and urine. The roof of the bus was leaking in four places, and was dripping on students. The climate control was all over the place. It was either too hot or too cold. 

The hotel was not up to par. My daughter had cold showers every day. Her mattress was so thin she could feel she springs when she laid down. The breakfast was not good.

In spite of everything I mentioned above, my daughter had a good time on the trip. The tour company did get her there and home safely. Her good experience was largely due to the teachers and chaperones doing a great job, though.

The bus ride was difficult due to the technology going out; by the end of the four day trip most of the bus power outlets had stopped working. The seats were. very uncomfortable, tailbone began to really ache by end of day 4. There were no cupholders anywhere (which can really make it hard to prevent spilling). The hotel beds left much to be desired. Ants were found in the bathroom and in the beds. The bus driver took a few too many hard stops along the way. 
The sightseeing was quite nice on the first day but this was done on our own time. Unfortunately the Space and Air Museum was mostly under renovation so much of the interactive parts were inaccessible. The Natural Science Museum and Lincoln Memorial stole the show (naturally). Unfortunately we were unable to visit the United States Supreme Court due to protestors. I think this would have been a highly educative moment for our children to see America speaking out but i digress. Arlington was very impressive and if you paid attention you heard several funerals going on in the background. I also had the fortune to see headstones dating back to the French and Indian War which put a whole new spin to how far back Arlington goes in our history. Our tour guide for Bus 1 was very educated and appreciated. 
The cash provided for the lunch on the first day on the mall was useless. Many chaperones had to pay for their groups food due to ridiculously high costs. For future trips increasing the cost may be necessary to provide an adequate lunch stipend or decrease the cost while requesting parents to send a prepaid card with a certain amount of cash available so that neither the kids nor the chaperones have to worry. The meal at the mall adjacent to the Pentagon was poorly planned. MANY of us had to wait over 45 minutes to get our food and very limited time to eating it. Not enough planning to realize that we are not the only tour group landing at the same place at the same time. Tour companies ought to compare details so that they don't walk all over each other. That mall simply wasn't equipped to handle the volume of 300+ patrons.
I did appreciate the older lady who joined Bus 1 at the capitol and told short stories about each location. She was the one who directed a few of us the exact spot where MLK stood when he gave his speech from Lincoln's Memorial. 
Overall the sites were excellent (those that weren't blocked off to the public) but the organization had flaws that could have been managed differently. I am sure this isn't this tour company's first time in DC. 

This trip and travel was lacking significantly! We did not receive details or itinerary until 2 days before we left. They did not reserve tickets to any of the museums in the National Mall but dropped us off at 9 and picked us up at 5pm with instructions to reserve our own entrance tickets. We found out two days before leaving that 3 of the museums were sold out so our kids didn't get to experience what we intended too. They were incredibly disorganized. 

The tour director on the bus provided absolutely no context while we drove around the city to where we were or what would happen next. When I tried to ask for this information, I was told to wait and treated as if I was asking for too much. The bus was filthy. The AC didn't work for one whole day and the rain leaked into the bus dripping on kids heads. The bathroom gave off a chemical smell that was so bad the whole bus had masks on. Again, when communicating this issue nothing was even acknowledged. A few moms could have created the itinerary, coordinated transportation, and booked the hotel for less money and it would have been way more organized. We had a blast on our trip but it was not due to this travel companies work.

The teachers were amazing and kept everyone engaged. The hotel was nice and clean. Breakfast was good and consistent. The bus driver was friendly and good.  

The trip started out promising however felt very disorganized after the first day. Was given cash for lunch and was told to stick to food trucks. Got stuck in traffic and all kids were let off the bus on a busy road then because of that chaos it took forever to find a place to eat lunch. The lady on Bus #3 from the tour company seemed to get snippy on several occasions with many kids and parents because she felt they weren’t getting where they should at the time she wanted them to. I felt this became a “vacation” for her as she was always the first off the bus and on her way. I was at Arlington Cemetary and got turned around, noticed her nearby and asked how to get to a particular site. Her response was, “I don’t know; I’m going to go see something else.” Then walked off. 

We had a scheduled tour at a church that ended up not being scheduled so was told to hurry up and walk through the church. What was suppose to be a little over an hour with a guide turned into a do it yourself tour. 

The last day was awful. We left Mt Vernon and ended up in traffic where we missed our lunch reservation by over an hour which got us on the road late. This made the bus drivers lose time which forced us to use our money ($10) for dinner at a run down gas station. This in turn made a couple kids sick on our bus which was not pleasant at all. 

But in the end my daughter had fun and learned as much as she could in the rush of everything. Had a blast dancing in front of the White House with her friends too!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the timing of your trip was not ideal and that the chaperones could not get a meal within their budget. We will consider this for future trips and ensure that all participants, including chaperones, can enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, the pandemic disrupted nearly every part of the travel industry. Those effects on the food supply chain and the drastic price increase in transportation are still being felt today.




We have a great time.  Timing of trip was tough because it was the same time as TN Spring Break so we only rode 5 rides in 6 hours.  The chaperones were given $10 for lunch, but basic meals were more than that.  The kids vouchers covered hamburger and fries meal at the diner, but for same order adults came to $19.   We paid the same amount for the trip.

Our bus guide was very friendly, movies in the bus were great, kept the kids more chill this year.

I had a great time with my son and his middle school.  The downfall was the time management on this trip. There wasn’t enough time planned to do things. The time of travel from one place to the next and time to eat was not taken in account on the schedule planning of this trip. Which then cut into the cool things that we got to do, and created stress because we were rushed to do everything.

Dollywood was great. Everything Blue Ridge Tours did was disorganized, poorly communicated and not worth the money. For example, we were told that each person would receive a $10 food voucher. Only to find out when we got there, it was only for the students (not the chaperones who paid the same amount) and it was $8 not $10, only applied to 3 restaurants, and for adult entrees (the cheapest adult entree was $13).

My child had a wonderful time on the field trip however as an adult I know what was paid and kids don't think about money. I expect in the future if Rose Charters does not do a partial refund for failing to provide a bus when one of them breaks down and making kids sit three to a bus all the way to Charleston and also provide a small refund for the other buses being 2.5 hours late on the first day making us late to our destination then Blue Ridge Tours needs to rethink who they use for charter buses in the future. I have to be honest and give a postive report that the destinations were perfect and even though it was rainy one day it did not damper our spirits. Our bus driver was one of the best I've ever seen. His name is  "Gary".  I did call our bus the redneck bus since a lot of stuff was broken and not working and there was hardly any room unless you sat on the outside seat but he made our bus ride enjoyable. He treated the kids like family high fiving them and letting them help load and unload the suitcases. The kids would cheer for him and clap for him and I just loved that! I would say our tour guide (can't remember her name) was average. She wasn't hateful but she wasn't exceptional. 
The workers at Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie seemed a little on the agressive side to me and other parents said the same thing. Our Fort Moultrie trip was basically the girl telling us the rules, watching the flag being lowered then she told us you have 3 mins to look around. This happened because our bus was late so I don't fault the Fort Moultrie people but even if we had to cancel and do something else I would have felt we got our moneys worth. Golden Corral (first night of dinner) overbooked so other school buses were there so our bus ended up having to wait an additional 30minutes. We were all starving but was told we couldn't go anywhere else to eat. If I'm not mistaken that was Golden Corrals fault but it is still part of the trip. A few days before the trip I was given a number to call about other food options since we were only given one option: Chick fil a (first day) and Fire House Subs (second day). I have an illness which requires me not to eat certain foods so I called and gave (I think) Donna the spill on what they could do as an alternative. She was willing to look into it and told me to call back the next day (the day before the trip) so when I called back around 3pm that day I spoke with someone else and had to leave my name and number since Donna was on a call with someone else. At 5:30pm no one answered and the voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message. I never got a call back and ended up having to eat a little of the food since there wasn't anywhere nearby to get something else. Luckily I had no issues during this trip with my illness but I felt ignored and that my illness isn't worthy of making alternate arrangements. Overall this was our first field trip in three years so my child and I were just happy to be going. It could've been worse but I am thankful everybody worked hard to move our itineraries around and hopefully this bus situation which caused a number of the other problems will not happen again.

The trip was pretty good despite the troubles and delays. I do appreciate how the travel company tried to fix the mistakes. It was inconvenient having to delay the first day and then being delayed further in the parking lot. As well as having to be crowded on the bus on the trip down. Another downside was dinner at Golden Corral. The food there is rarely good but I understand it’s probably the most convenient for that many kids. The restaurant was extremely crowded and it took forever to just get a drink. There were no plates to get more food, no bowls for dessert. And then we had to leave 30 minutes early so the next group could come in. Most of the kids didn’t get to eat a full meal and were still hungry when we left. I wish the timing had been better and we didn’t spend as much time just sitting in the bus. For example we had to leave the hotel at 8 am Friday to go to fort sumpter. It was only a 15 minute ride and they didn’t open until 9. We spent 45 minutes just sitting on the bus. Since we had to leave later because of the schedule being rearranged we were stuck in traffic for quite some time on the way home. I understand that most of the dilemmas were not to blame on the travel company or the teachers. I do appreciate how everyone went above and beyond to try and make it work.

I’ll start with the positives— very nice tour guides, the hotel was great, and we enjoyed our bus driver. We had a great time and enjoyed the places we visited. 
A major delay/ bus issue caused our entire itinerary to be rearranged… a bus load of kids and adults had to cram on to two already full buses… for a 3 plus hour trip to our destination. I don’t think that was an appropriate solution, but we were guilted into cramming together to “help out”….
A plan B should have been in place due to the age of the buses. At the very least, Families should have been compensated for that inconvenience. This was not an inexpensive trip.

We had a great trip.  The days were extremely long and I do wish there were more organized tours rather than chaperones responsible for hours of taking the kids places.  If you're not familiar with the city and all the places you can go, it's overwhelming and I felt like we missed some things.  The restaurants (mostly food courts) could use some improvement. It was a lot of fast food and not many healthy options.  It was a great trip but there are definitely some things that could be improved upon.

Had issues with the buses.  They were behind schedule the day before our trip—so they pushed back our departure time.  The next morning the buses were still later than they said.  Out of 5 buses—1 was broken down and another other was an hour late.  They made us squish onto the 3 buses we had and promised reimbursement for the inconvenience.  That reimbursement turned out to be pizza—which we had to feed the kids while traveling down the road.  Definitely not a good first experience in my opinion.  I think we should have gotten the pizza plus a dollar amount refunded.

I felt the organization of the trip was lacking in direction, clarity, and there was a lot of wasted time. Poor direction checking in as to where to go and where the lunch would be. All the kids were dying to do the zip line. There were timed tickets. My group arrived 25 min early for our time and because the location was so understaffed, the hour and a half we waited in line was wasted since we were told we had to return to the busses, there was no more time. The venue staff seemed overwhelmed and completely understaffed. The zip line was running singles. There were not enough to adequately check the safety harnesses efficiently. Luckily there were a lot of chaperones to help the kids. There should be better signage and instruction on WHERE the group should meet for lunch when it's catered. The lunch was weak as far as quality and the bottled water was warm. This isn't Disney, the wait in lines should be shorter, the communication better, and don't ever agree to a 3:30 zip line ticket. It was not at capacity by far. The kids had fun but were disappointed going home. The venue would be worth going to as a family without the added $75 per person for a round trip ride and a wrap sandwich that was all wrap, little chicken.
