Morocco is a very interesting country to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed learning about this new culture. Also, loved seeing the Jewish sites. On the other hand, I often felt like I was being run through the towns. I especially felt that way in Chefchaouen. I wanted stop and look around including stopping to get one of the small paintings of local buildings. I felt like I was being an imposition when I asked to stop to get a post card. When we did get to shop, it seemed that we were taken to a few high priced shops for carpets, leather, etc.where there was a financial incentive on the part of the tour. The food was very heavy and repetitive. Six to eight cooked salads and a tajine. I would have appreciated some lighter meals. It was very telling that 14 of the 18 people grabbed pizza at the hotel Italian restaurant on our free night in Marrakech. While I learned and saw a fair amount on this trip, I would not recommend it to someone else without substantial changes. Disappointing after our great experience in Cuba in 2016.

Thanks for taking the time to write. We all have a right to our opinion. I do want to respond to a few comments. Food in Morocco is heavy. Just like in Cuba there is no light lunch. I understand that there was some duplication of meals but the quality was maintained. As to shopping you were taken to not high priced stores but stores which offer quality over the junk one might buy on their own. The tourist traps one encounters in Chefchaouen were not worth the stop and that day was a long bus ride so it required a bit of haste. Perhaps Morocco is not for you. We regret that you did not appreciate those features which made the trip truly unique - such as the lecture by M. Fatima, the wonderful pottery shop, or avoiding multiple long bus rides by using train and air - and many more.

Mixed review. I would give the trip 3 1/2 stars, if possible. We enjoyed seeing Morocco. It is a fascinating place, but I would have liked a bit more depth to the Jewish history story to weave the sites we saw together, with a clear timeline, and a little more of the political story. Perhaps that would have been a good topic for an academic lecture. The hotel accomodations were good but not great. In 2 of the hotels our AC was broken. In the last hotel there was blood on the toilet in multiple places when we got to our room, hard to understand how that was missed by housekeeping. We told the front desk & they cleaned, but then the AC was broken. The property was very pretty, but worn, the carpet in the hall was badly stained. We would have preferred even to pay a little more to stay at better properties. The restaurants were, for the most part architecturally beautiful, but there was clearly no menu planning. We had only fish 4 days in a row, appetizers & main courses. Then we had almost only tangine beef every meal with 1-2 breaks for chicken or buffets. One day we had identical meals ( down to dessert!) for lunch & dinner, which was disappointing. Where was the lamb? Isn't Morocco famous for its lamb? I can't imagine that Moroccans only eat tangine beef every lunch and dinner. This was a serious misstep on the part of the tour- literally leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth! Our guide was kind and helpful by sending me a doctor when I got sick and accommodating with our extensions and transfers. We liked seeing Morocco but felt the trip needed some fine tuning.
