Participants will experience how group drumming can bring one deeper into who they really are, and, by going deeper, move even closer to God. Anawim Ministries (Bethany Retreat Center)

BETHANY RETREAT CENTER was established in 1982 by the Anawim Religious Community of Frenchville, Pennsylvania. It is a place apart to rest, renew and be recreated for those seeking a deeper relationship with God.

Located on 140 acres of partially wooded land in the hills of Pennsylvania, the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful — only 15 miles off Interstate 80.

About this trip

Tom Campbell has led over ten group drumming retreats at Bethany. He has been organizing/leading retreats for 35 years, and he has been drumming over 30 years.  Tom leads drumming retreats in homes, churches/synagogues, healthcare settings, yoga and massage studios, and monthly in his own home.  He has studied indigenous and native spirituality for 30 years, weaving its earth reverence and Creator-centered approach to life into his drumming events.

You just can't beat the serenity of the grounds and facilities. There is peace and quiet for reflection and spaces for community gathering. I was able to still the chatter in my mind for clarity and focus.

11th Step Retreat

Our group truly enjoyed our time together and the lovely grounds even though you had experienced a lot of rain. We were blessed to have time outside to enjoy the labyrinth and walking around. The sitting area in the barn worked perfectly for us. The 23 new people were amazed by the buildings and all you do. As always we were blessed to be there.

We had a great time.  Accommodations were comfortable and the food was great.  The staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has a pleasant experience.

I've been to several of Tom's drumming retreats - a few at Bethany Retreat Center.  The energy is so clean and warm and loving.  I can not recommend this enough.  The lunch is great and the individuals that attend are all loving seekers.  Definitely a 5-star experience!

I had a peaceful and relaxing time very welcoming. Accommodations were clean and nice the food was delicious. The presenter was friendly, understanding and knowledgeable. Various buildings, beautiful surroundings and plenty of activities. I will definitely be trying another retreat at this location.

The labyrinth retreat was absolutely amazing! It was well presented and well organized. The retreat center, food, staff and accomodations were perfect! I cannot wait to return. I have already told many people about my experience!

Excellent program.  Mary is a wonderful leader who creates a safe place to explore our inner worlds.  Thank you.  And Bethany is simply lovely, perfect setting for retreats.  Highly recommend!

Welcoming Forgiveness and Centering Prayer

This retreat was conducted by Mary Dwyer an excellent teacher and founding member of the Contemplative Outreach.  I have been to separate retreats and one other with Mary.  Both with Mary are highly impactful to my practice.  Mary's experience leading retreats evokes a palatable sense of the Silence, a holiness arose around all of us until we broke the Silent on the last day of the retreat.  

A retreat full of long time meditators creates an environment thick with the Silence I came to meditate within.  A retreat at Bethany provides a beautiful atmosphere for Contemplatives.  Dwyer's command of the meditative techniques delivered within a hermeutic teaching method plant deep seeds I can't wait to realize.

It was a transformational experience.  Nothing could have been better.  Not the food, the setting, the people, the location, the weather.

The drumming retreat was a wonderful experience.  There was a nice balance of activities, drumming, and stories to keep us well-engaged and inspired.  Thanks, Tom and the Bethany Retreat Center, for a great day!

I had an amazing time as this was my first drumming retreat with Tom. I loved the story telling, blessing ritual, and of course the drumming sessions! The food was wonderful and the ground so very well kept. I love Bethany!

I had an amazing time as this was my second drumming retreat with Tom. I loved the story telling, blessing ritual, and of course the drumming sessions! The food was wonderful and the ground so very well kept. I love Bethany! Can't wait for the spring 25 retreat with Tom! 

It is a joyful adventure into Native American culture with traditional drumming, stories, song and movement. It is an event that I will come back to as often as I can!

That was a lot of fun and very interesting. 

We had a wonderful experience at the Bethany Retreat center! Monica, who was the leader, did an excellent presentation on our retreat! The food was delicious that was served for lunch. It was so nice to have a variety of soups and salad for choices - very healthy options! We hope to come back for another retreat and experience the beautiful area and gorgeous landscape.

Strengthening Our Daily Prayer Through Mary

What a fantastic program and perfect venue!! Jeannine was a wonderful, relaxed, and knowledgeable guide.  Her relaxed attitude made this new experience for me so much more enjoyable.  As a first timer at Bethany Retreat Center I was impressed!! Everyone was so welcoming and the grounds are absolutely beautiful! For sure 10 out of 10!!

Poetry Retreat - Here, There, and Everywhere!

You just can't beat the well-kept and natural beauty of the grounds. Lots of space for groups or for private time. Great home cooked meals. Comfortable room. The poetry retreat is a sure fire way to stimulate your creativity and share with like-minded souls.

We had a very meaningful retreat in comfortable lodgings with delicious home-cooked meals. The natural surroundings are beautiful and inviting. 

Associates Retreat

Keith Kristich someone steeped in the Oneness of God; he uses plain, poetic, compassionate language to express the very difficult concept of God as non-separate from all of us.  I am extremely grateful to have Keith in our midst and for the world to have access to him through zoom.  People like him come into our lives rarely.  I felt steeped in peace and absorbed in the presence of the I AM of God.
The retreat center was absolutely lovely in every regard; the staff went out of the way to make us feel welcome and comfortable.  The food was amazing!!!  The chefs worked very hard to provide delicious, nutritious and plentiful food.  The room was very comfortable, quiet, and cozy and cute.  The grounds are also amazing... many walking paths, a labyrinth, very impressive stations of the cross boulder sculptures, and the list goes on and on.  I look forward to the next conference with Keith.  

The Group Drumming Retreat at Bethany Retreat Center was wonderful.  Tom, the presenter, planned such a nice variety of activities including group drumming, story telling, movement, and a project.  The various activities were tied together with a theme of spirituality.  I left the retreat feeling relaxed and at the same time energized for living life!

Wonderful weekend of drumming and meeting some new friends. The grounds are beautiful and the sisters and staff always offer such warm hospitality and welcome. Will be back again!
