About this trip

Our first group drumming retreat in 2024 will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Join us on April 20th when we will focus on Sacred Medicine Shields, found in native and indigenous traditions. Each attendee will create their spiritual shield, signifying their personal vision. We will honor each person’s spiritual journey through their own Sacred Medicine Shield.

Over 30 people attended October’s day long event which featured meditative and rhythmic drumming, storytelling, ceremony, ritual, movement prayer and more. New drums owned by attendees were blessed by the entire group; it was a moving ceremony. We built our Sacred Tree with individually created branches symbolizing our connectedness to each other and to Mother Earth.

The Sacred Medicine Shield represents our individual journeys. We will blend our journeys together through lots of rhythmic and reflective drumming. We’ll listen to stories that will touch your hearts and souls, move in prayerful ways, bless new drums, and enter into a deeper part of who we really are. We will connect as one and hopefully draw closer to God.

The drumming retreat was a wonderful experience. There was a nice balance of activities, drumming, and stories to keep us well-engaged and inspired. Thanks, Tom and the Bethany Retreat Center, for a great day!

It is a joyful adventure into Native American culture with traditional drumming, stories, song and movement. It is an event that I will come back to as often as I can!
