      About this trip

      March 27, 2021

      10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Central Time

Mayan Medicine & Ancestral Knowledge  w/ Genoveva, Founder of Atitlan Herbals

Mayan Medicine is a system on natural medicine that has been practiced in traditional Mayan culture for over 2000 years. We will work with two of the main practices in Mayan medicine.

In this workshop, we will explore how herbs are used in Mayan medicine for energy cleansing.  Some traditional ways of cleansing can help you feel lighter, refreshed, and clearer in your mind.

They are very simple to make and anyone can make them. In this time where we find ourselves so connected with technology, and after 2020, this is a perfect way to release some stress working with some plants and connect to another culture.

We will also learn a very simple technique of abdominal self-massage to help move energy, remove blockages, improve digestion, and release accumulated stress.

      1:00-4:00 p.m. Central Time

Cook, Learn & Connect w/ Anita, Founder of Mayan Kitchen Cooking & Atitlan Women Weavers

Having  grown up in the small village of San Pedro La Laguna, where her cooking school is located, Anita offers a place for people to connect, interactive experiential learning, cultural wisdom, and a remarkable story behind how her journey began.

In this workshop, Anita will share some simple recipes for Guatemalan tortillas, nachos (Guatemalan for tortillas chips), and guacamol (guacamole).

Anita will also give a short weaving demonstration to see how how they turn locally-grown cotton into yarn, create natural dyes with plants, and weave textiles using a backstrap loom before sharing more of her personal story and journey into entrepreneurship with you.

A truly sweet and deeply nourishing experience I didn’t know how much I needed. The structure of daily yoga and meals taken care of, plenty of down-time, comfortable accommodation and dreamy setting and opportunity for connection to self and others in a more natural and authentic way - such a rewarding gift Melissa and her support offer to those of us in need of a reset, release, reconnect, reinvent, reignite. The ability to create and maintain and hold space for participants to experience what they came for is a special gift. I will be taking the deep inner peace I found with me forward.

This is my second trip with Melissa and was exactly what I needed! A beautiful location, the ability to choose my level of engagement, interesting food and lovely people made for a wonderful retreat. Melissa & Steph provided and created a welcoming atmosphere that let me relax after several years of high-intensity pressures. I cannot thank them enough for all of their work in putting this together and leading the group! Thank you! I will definitely be joining a future HSP & Introvert retreat.

Melissa was a perfect guide for our HSP community. She went above and beyond to provide a fantastic experience. Many of us would not have dared taken on this adventure into a foreign country where we do not speak the language without a guide we could trust. Melissa brought us together for a life-changing opportunity to soak in the beauty, recharge and relax, and connect to the rich culture and people of Guatemala. I would highly recommend Melissa's retreats for introverts and highly-sensitive people who want the joy of travel and the security of a great guide who has their best interests at heart.
