About this trip

** Scroll down this page to view the complete, day by day, itinerary**

Join us on our Guatemalan Multi-Regional coffee tour. Together with our talented and knowledable barista friends, we have come up with an itinerary packed full of experiences that will help you understand a wide range of aspects that you need to know as a coffee lover!

We will visit coffee cooperatives and small producers who will share with us in detail all of the processes involved in the various stages of coffee production.  Our two main destinations are the colonial town of La Antigua Guatemala, a picturesque little town complete with cobblestone roads nestled in a valley surrounded by volcanoes; and Lake Atitlán, a beautiful volcanic lake in the Western highlands, ringed by small villages where you can feel the strong presence of the Maya culture, customs and traditions.

The fun doesn't stop there, during our time in Antigua we will also hike one of the 3 active volcanoes in Guatemala, the Pacaya volcano. Here we'll enjoy a picnic at the summit while appreciating the lava and roasting some marshmallows!

Finally, our trip will conclude with a  stop at our favorite stands and tiny comedores in the towns surrounding Antigua for the best local street food!

The Heart of Travel was born out of a deep-rooted love and passion for travel, art, history, food, nature, culture and adventure as well as a call to give back to the communities and people that had already provided us with so much. The travel industry has long been bombarded with double decker tour busses, beach front resorts and cruise ships, often at the expense of the local communities. As a response to this failing system, we began a boutique travel company that allows clients to explore new places in an authentic and non-touristy way, offering travelers a more intimate and unique experience all while removing the stress and hassle of researching, planning, bargain hunting, reserving and more that goes along with planning a trip or vacation.

Chelsea and the Heart of Travel team were AMAZING to work with! So professional, helpful, and responsive. Including "in real time" on the ground assistance when some things came up (completely unrelated to them) and I needed assistance quickly to navigate. Their expertise, quality of recommended and arranged services, and attention to detail made travel a breeze! No easy feat in this barely-post pandemic world! I was traveling alone, to a new country, and my travel-muscles were a bit rusty after a few years of not using them, Heart of Travel made all the logistics of travel seamless and easy to navigate so that I could simply ENJOY my vacation.

It was wonderful and beyond! Suzanne is an amazing leader, Villa Sumaya is beautiful and promotes disconnect and care, and there are many options to structure the week—as much or as little as you want. I plan to return to Villa Sumaya and/or attend another of Suzanne’s retreats.

This trip was a dream come true for me! Villa Sumaya was amazing--the staff, the amenities, the food. Flow yoga's adventures were incredible. We did a Fire Ceremony, sweat lodge, cacao ceremony, tons of yoga, downtime, hiking, kayaking and paddle boarding, time to reflect, massage and energy work. Wonderful participants. Suzanne the leader was spectacular. This was the trip of a lifetime.

I had a wonderful trip. The food was beyond amazing. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The yoga and all the treatments far exceed my expectations. We were involved in many activities such as yoga, hikes, paddle board, kayaking, & cliff jumping. All the people were knowledgeable, helpful & kind. I highly recommend this experience.

A million thanks to Suzanne with Flow Yoga Adventures for a magical week in Lake Atilan Guatemala. The retreat was perfectly curated offering the perfect blend of heath, wellness and safe adventure. My expectations were exceeded every possible way from the moment I made my deposite to the time I landed back in Denver. No detail was missed. Suzanne’s passion for travel, Yoga and people make her the perfect person to trust when planning your next adventure. I can’t wait to travel with Flow Yoga Adventures again and this is coming from someone that only does yoga periodically.
