We had a great time on this trip, apart from one small accommodation mix up, which was rectified immediately, everything went very smoothly. The accommodation was above expectations and the food was excellent. Travel the Guianas went out of their way to ensure we saw everything on the itinerary. Due to maintenance issues on the runway our scheduled flight to Kaieteur Falls was cancelled, however, Travel the Guianas, spent time to reschedule the flight on a day earlier and even found extra people not associated with our group to ensure the plane had its quota to make the flight go ahead. They were also very good in amending the itinerary to fit in the Space Centre after our original tour day was cancelled by the Space Centre. Due to their efforts, we saw everything that was advertised. The tour guides and drivers were all very professional and friendly. I would like to give a special thank you to Dinesh and Borger who were outstanding in their assistance and very prompt replies to any questions we had. We would thoroughly recommend Travel the Guianas as a great company who provided us an incredible experience.

Very well organised trip - thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have preferred more central hotels in Georgetown and Kourou, but other than that it was perfect. Lots to see and do - thanks :)

Hye Mr. Simon, so nice to hear you enjoyed the trip. as for the hotels in Guyana is only 3,5* best hotel. if you really had a hotel in the city center, you would call me to replace because of the noise these hotels has. As for Kourou all hotels and distances are almost same... But we will surely take a closer look at the hotels again.

Overall a positive experience, we got to see a lot in a short time and visited everything mentioned in the itinerary (including Kaieteur Falls and the Space Center, which may be at risk for cancellation). Transfers were on time, in comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles. Communication with the company was generally good: they reply promptly and provide information as requested. A few caveats: 1) Hotels. I paid $450 for upgraded hotels, which may not be worth it - I compared notes with others who stayed at the "regular" hotels and concluded that only the Georgetown upgraded hotel was definitely better. Check your vouchers carefully. When I received my vouchers shortly before the tour, I noticed that they had booked me in the regular hotels despite me paying the upgraded hotel supplement. When I brought it up, they asked for an additional $1100! I sent them the screenshot I had taken when making my reservation and they apologized and rebooked me in the upgraded hotels. The "upgraded" hotel in Paramaribo (Royal Torarica), where I stayed a total of 4 nights, was mediocre at best, with major ventilation and A/C issues. 2) Guides. We had a different guide almost every day, except in French Guyana, where we spent three days with the same guide (by far the best one we had). Some guides were uninspired freelancers who just wanted to rush us through and finish as soon as possible. The guide for the full-day Paramaribo city tour acted surprised when we asked to make a stop for lunch and restroom after 3.5 hours, and said that a stop for lunch was not contemplated! The guides/drivers for the Knini Paati Resort were also highly variable. On the way to Atjoni (which is already a long drive from Paramaribo) we made two stops in order for the driver to buy groceries for the camp, and in Atjoni we waited one hour while they were ostensibly loading the groceries on the pirogue. Overall this added 1.5 hours to an already long transfer. 3) Practicalities: We arrived at Paramaribo airport late on Saturday night. The airport ATM does not accept international cards (sic). The next day (Sunday) we tried at least six ATMs, none of which accepted international cards. Banks were closed, and restaurants don't routinely accept USD or euros. The guide had no idea where we could get local currency. Since the tour operator is based in Suriname, they should be well aware of this issue, and come up with some solution.

Hello Chiara, thank you so much for your feedback. This info will help us to provide a better service voucher. And we will make sure to better check upgrades and we will check again with the guide of Suriname, because he is one of the best. Thank you again.
