Learn how to guide a paddle boat on class III-IV whitewater with hands on experience and a lot of FUN! Over the course of our guide training, you will have the opportunity to practice rafting skills such as navigating a paddle boat through rapids, catching eddys, surfing waves, throw rope drills, and learning to right a flipped boat.
The main focus of this training is to educate each person on what the guide expectations are for Nate's Rogue Adventures and develop the skills to achieve them. Be prepared to learn...a LOT and be physically challenged. If you have previous guide experience, joining our training is essential to work for Nate's Rogue Adventures.
7am - Meet at Nate's house with personal gear and learn how to pack a day trip. Come prepared to throw boats and pack essential gear before heading to Maupin to train on the lower Deschutes river. This is a job interview, please show up ready to work, learn, and play on a team.
Training will be all day. We will break for lunch and we will prepare and enjoy dinner together, while becoming familiar with the camping gear we use on commercial trips. We will camp in Maupin for the night and resume training the next morning.
