Enjoy a day trip to the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham for the Broadway touring production of Hamilton. Hamilton is the epic saga that follows the rise of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton as he fights for honor, love, and a legacy that would shape the course of a nation. The musical is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography and set to a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway. In addition to its 11 Tony Awards, it has won Grammy®, Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.   Known fondly as DPAC, the Durham Performing Arts Center offers an exceptional experience for enjoying the show. The Theater was just ranked a top three theater by Billboard Magazine after welcoming over 550,000 guests in 2025. We have excellent seats, located in the Orchestra, Section 3.  Bring your own lunch for the trip to Durham since this is a 1pm show.  Patty will supplement lunch with snacks.  We will have a dinner stop at Transfer Food Hall in Raleigh on the way back to the Coast.

So enjoyed the Annie Leibovitz trip! This was my first over night trip. Patty and team are pro's, with friendly, and considerate, "can do" attitudes. Top notch planning and execution. Great hotel! Looking forward to my next Bryson City Train and Biltmore trips!

We had a great time. Accommodations were good.  Everything ran smoothly and Patty took care of everything and it was well planned out.

I had the best time on our Christmas trip to the Biltmore House, King Tut. Our accommodations were perfect. I recommend this trip to everyone. Patty is the absolute best in planning everything for us. I can't wait to go on another trip that Patty has planned.

This was a great trip.  The itinerary was terrific, as were the an accommodations.  Patti and Doris were excellent in handling all aspects of the trip.

 Great time!  My Wilmington friends were so impressed with the super itinerary and how Patty handles everything with a smile! We are excited about 2026!!

Great trip I would go again if this trip comes up again-I had a great time with the people on the bus and the garden was a mazing 


The trip to Biltmore was fun, amazing and quite jovial!!  Patty had the trip very very organized and, while the venue was packed, we were always nicely booked and everything ran smoothly.  The hotel was a nice choice;  clean, friendly, comfortable.   The only weak point (for us) was the viewing of the King Tut exhibit.  Amazing display... just not enough time to enjoy all the history.   Perhaps we could have been better prepped on 'the movie" prior to the real exhibit.  Too many people to wade thru.  But great display!  Thank you .

We had a wonderful time. Coach was comfortable , the trip well organized and on time!  Let’s get trips to Cary for Chinese lanterns and a one day trip to Statesville to see Hot Air Balloon Festival.    Also like to do some DPAC concerts!   Love not having to drive late after dark!

This trip was extremely well planned and executed.  There was much to do and everyone on the Patty’s team was excellent.  I would highly recommend this excursion. 

This trip was an absolute joy!  Brookgreen Gardens was just stunning.  We had a fantastic dinner in the Harvest Restaurant and everything was perfect.  Patty's team was exceptionally attentive to every detail, made sure everyone was comfortable, hydrated and happy.  They wanted to make sure everyone was happy.  Donnie was amazing.  Best driver ever!  Can't wait to take more trips with Patty and her team!

Another wonderful trip with Trips by Patty

We had great time, despite the cold weather.  Enjoyed all aspects, fellow travelers, and especially the staff.

Our recent trip “Christmas at the Biltmore Estate” which also included the King Tut exhibit was fabulous.  As always, Patty puts so much thought and effort into making her trips as comfortable and well planned as possible. Doris was very helpful during the entire trip. Finally, BRAVO to Donnie, the best coach bus driver ever!!!!!!!


We had a fabulous time!  Patty, Doris and our driver, Donnie, took excellent care of us.  The Biltmore experience is not to be missed.  Hotel was lovely, food delicious and we enjoyed our escorted tours around Asheville.  Looking forward to traveling with them in the future.

We really enjoyed this trip. The bus was very comfortable and Cathy was so full of information. She made the ride manageable. She has a great personality too. The Biltmore was fun and the restaurant was very good as well. The rest of the excursions were also enjoyable.

From sign-up, to departing the bus at the end of the trip, it was lots of fun.  While the Biltmore at Christmas is quite a sight to behold, the seamless operation by Patty and her team, ensured a wonderful trip.  All ticket admissions, and stops for sights and food, were about as smooth as possible.  All the "heavy lifting" was taken care of for us, and our driver handled our time on the bus,  expertly.  The price and comfort of the trip made it well worth our while, so Kudos to Patty & crew....and thanks for a wonderful trip!

Patty is a wonderful trip organizer.  No thoughtful detail left out.

Hotel:  I understand this was a first-time experience for Trips by Patty.  I've never experienced such a horrible situation with elevators.  Two slow elevators servicing the whole hotel, including a restaurant and (I think) a rooftop bar.  It was a nightmare.  So much so I ended up using a staircase access outside on the street, which the desk person was nice enough to show me.  If you were first off the bus you probably had a good shot at getting back to your room in a decent amount of time, but if you were near the back, like I was, the wait could be 20 minutes or more.  Same with getting down to lobby:  many elevators from the upper floors arrived at floor 5 full.  So that's why I took the staircase.  Plus, there were very little holiday decorations to enjoy while waiting in the lobby.  It's Christmastime at Biltmore!  The staff said it's because they are a "minimalist hotel."  They were right about that.  Between the elevators and the lack of festiveness, I don't think this hotel is a good choice again.

I felt some of the stops were just toff o much to take in in such a short time frame (King Tut, Craft Guild).  Re the Craft Guild, I would have shaved quite a bit of time off the Biltmore Forest Community in favor of a longer time at the Craft place.  I didn't even have time to visit upstairs.  We drove through Biltmore Forest for a looong time, and the houses were barely visible, so why spend so much time there?

Visibility leads me to another thought:  I had been sitting in the same seat Tues. and Wed.  For whatever reason on Thursday seating became a free-for-all, and I was directed to the emergency exit seat, as was the woman sitting behind me prior to Thursday.  No big deal, except for some strange reason there is a circular film across the two emergency seat windows with a checkered pattern.  So when you are sitting there it's as if you are looking through a blurry prism.  Putting people in those seats is just unfair.  Everyone else gets a clear view, but 2-4 people in the emergency seats do not?  I would have been extremely unhappy and looking for some kind of refund if that had been my seat the whole time.  It's a touring bus, after all.

One final thought:  the lateness of certain passengers.  One woman (greyish blonde choppy haircut) was consistently late back to the bus: late coming out of winery; late for leaving another stop which I can't recall; late to the dinner seating so she couldn't sit were her two traveling companions; and late getting back to the bus at the rest stop.   The last was some excuse about unavailability of restrooms.  No one else seemed to have an issue finding bathrooms, and there was a perfectly good bathroom on the bus for her to use when she realized she would run late.  Since there was a miscount, the bus was on the verge of leaving when the person sitting next to her spoke up.  If she hadn't spoken up, what would have happened is she would have contacted Patty, and everyone would have been inconvenienced by having to turn around to retrieve a person who clearly cared nothing for her fellow passengers.  

I was late to the bus the first morning because of full elevators arriving at my floor, and that's why I made darn sure, by taking the stairs, that I would not be late again.  Basic consideration.

Tolerating this inconsiderate behavior from an adult should not be acceptable.  After two times the offender(s) should clearly be advised that if they can't get back to the bus on time they will have to find their way to the next stop, or back to the hotel.  Otherwise, they will assume being late is "no big deal" because there are no repercussions. I hate to say this woman should have been treated like a child, but that's how she acted.

After pointing out these observations, I repeat that Patty takes care of every detail, and it was an extremely well-run tour.





We had a great time.  The lights were amazing to see.  Brookgreen Gardens is top notch. They greeted us with brochures showing a map. We ate dinner at the Harvest Restaurant. The service and food were good. The bus ride was easy as usual with Donnie driving. Having Cathy and Penny as trip host was perfect. 

Should leave earlier than 2:30 maybe 1:30 to get more time

My gf and I had an enjoyable trip to Brookgreen Gardens to see the Night of 1,000 lights. Donnie (bus driver) safely and efficiently transported us to and fro, enabling us to just enjoy the ride! Patty and her team were great! Would go on another trip with her!

Wonderful trip! Patty, together with her two guides, Bobby on Day 2, and Mark on Day 3, tied together all intricate history details of the Biltmore family, and their relationship to the King Tut exhibit. Patty's assistant, Doris, made the bus time go quickly with fun games, snacks, and movies. This is my third overnight trip, and all have been "spot on".  I have been very interested to learn about my new state, and Patty has been instrumental in that regard. I look forward to 2026!

We had a great tine. Travel was easy with a very good bus driver. The purpose of the trip was to see the Biltmore House Christmas display and the King Tut exhibit. Our only constructive criticism was that there should have been more time alloted to see both of these venues. We felt a little rushed at the end of each, and could have spent more time there. 

The activities we experienced were fantastic. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the area. I learned a lot. 
I did miss you Patty. as our bus person. I also spoke with my neighbors about their issues. 
Yes, I  understand the heat issues at the hotel but being on the first floor I did not experience that. 
I also understand the crotchety old people issues but being late to the bus so many times was not so funny after the first few times. 
I do think staying at a hotel with a bar is a nice idea but I also think many people just can’t or don’t want to have the added cost of an amenity they might not use. Maybe a hotel  within walking distance of that would be better. Loved the hotel on the Charlottesville trip! Excellent choice. 
And the “original” seats issue, I heard that got some people upset. But I know on the mountain trip we did write down our seat numbers in case we lost stuff, we had no issues with that on that trip. But searching for my umbrella, that was in my seat, for minutes while some older man was sitting on it was ridiculous. If I get to that bus area before the bus arrived in Leland and picked seats to be by the neighbors, I truly feel it should not be taken away. So next time I’ll leave a huge bag or something on the seat. 
I enjoyed the activities very much and would love a Raleigh trip to Dix Park and the Chinese Lanterns.

We loved how informative this trip was! We got to do so much, learn so much, in such quick trip. Thank you so much for all your effort in arranging this. Our complaint would be, the hotel was so removed from anything and didn’t have a bar to be able to gather with other travelers and get to know each other better. Of course we got the room with no heat, no fault of yours, but it did make us not want to spend much time in there!

great accommodations at the Hotel. Very much looking forward to another tour.

This trip exceeded our expectations! Comfortable bus, snacks, and stops plus nice hotel stay. The Candlelight Christmas tour of Biltmore was fabulous and not rushed. The King Tut exhibit was wonderful as well as the holiday lights and trolls at the Arboretum. The guest guides on the bus gave insights into Biltmore's history and the estate. So much more plus some free time! Highly recommend this trip organized by Patty! 
 

We packed in a lot of activity on this trip which was great! I really enjoyed all the tours. Patty does a great job with the arrangements! 
Hotel was lacking though, heat was an issue in several of the rooms and it would have been nice to have had a bar for gathering. 
Unfortunately some people on the bus were too crotchety, a few downright nasty, so I won’t be going on any more of these tours until I’m much older and can’t drive myself. 

We had a great time on the bus, being with friends and enjoying dinner.  The show was good but sometimes to corny.  I enjoyed most of it.

Christmas Theater Trip

Great trip. Enjoyed every minute. Great timing and scheduling. Even enjoyed the bus ride. Thank you Doris for great entertainment and generous snacks. Not to leave out our helpful and great driver. Thank you. Looking forward to the next trip!!



I recommend this trip to everyone. We had a great time and everything was perfectly planned by Patty and Kathy.  When it comes back next year, make your reservation quickly as to not get shutout.

We always enjoy Patty's trips.  This trip did not disappoint.  Both wineries we visited were beautiful and, most important of all, made outstanding wine--we have found that many wineries in NC just aren't up to par, but these two (Rayson and Shadow Springs) were spectacular.... We also enjoyed the wonderful lunch and tastings at Southern Distilling.  The tasting room and event room were lovely with antique cars and motorcycle collections.  Our stop at Rescue Ranch far exceeded my expectations...the animals were adorable, everything from a giant tortoise to a llama--we also saw, what we believe to be the largest cow in the world--his back was over 6 feet high..   We really enjoyed this trip, as well as the wonderful customer service provided by Patty and her team.

Patty, what a fun and amazing trip that was for me, thank you!  Yes, we had the weather against us the first couple days but you and your fantastic team (Kathy and Donny) made quick adjustments to the itinerary to accommodate.  The bus was comfortable and the stops were planned perfectly for getting a stretch in and eating/restroom breaks when needed.

At the hotel, which had such beautiful balcony views of the river (which was my favorite thing about that hotel) I watched you guys hustle to get the mistake made by the hotel corrected so we could all get in our rooms that first night.  You were very calm and professional with the front desk clerk, who was obviously very confused, and you got it all worked out with a smile on your face.  

A sunny day would have been great for the train ride Wednesday, of course, but with my umbrella I was still able enjoy Bryson City and the train museum before the ride. The train ride itself was very cool experience.  It felt a little like riding back in time, the scenery was so pretty, the lake was massive and the meal was delicious.  I thought the tumbler and reusable bag were nice little swag/souvenirs too.  

Scheduling in a stop for Thursday at the flag museum on the trip home was a great way to break up the day and I did really enjoy that too.  Much more than I thought I would to be honest.  I never gave any thought to what goes into flags and found the historical pictures on the presidential flags to be most interesting.

I wish I lived close enough to take more trips with you guys, if you ever bring a trip out to Las Vegas, count me in.  You guys are The Best :)

Trains and Mountain Towns

We were looking forward to a little escape to the NC mountains and a train ride through the Smokies. We took a trip with Patty to Charlottsville VA and thoroughly enjoyed that. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great for this trip, but we made the best of it had a great time with the people we traveled with. We enjoyed the stop at the NC Farmers Market on the way to Sylva and dinner at LuLu's was excellent. The next day [Wed] the train ride. We explored Bryson City for a couple of hours before departing on the train and found a great little coffee shop, with the best apple Danish I ever had! :-)
The train ride was great, albeit a bit wet, we really enjoyed the ambiance of riding in a steam train through the Smoky mountains and sitting in a dining car to look out at all the colors.
The next day was the ride home and a stop at the House of Flags Museum in Columbus, SC. and lunch at a little local diner. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves!

My favorite was the Rescue Ranch with the distillery running a close second. Food was very good everywhere. 
I loved seeing rural North Carolina (staying off of the highways). Riding on 74 was a nice touch/surprise. 
Your team continues to go out of their way to make sure everyone is as happy as possible.
