About this trip

Haramara Late-Winter Yoga Retreat with MJ & Leisha*

Slowing down, nourishing ourselves and connecting to the Divine within.

Join MJ Daniels and Leisha Davis* for a week at the beautiful Haramara Retreat in Nayarit, Mexico. We will focus daily on personal inquiry through the Yoga Sutras. Also, practicing twice daily mantra, asana, pranayama, and meditation. All of these practices are tools to help us navigate and guide our way to the Divine within.

We are hopeful that travel policies, adequate testing, and contact tracing will make it possible to travel in the New Year.

Haramara means “Mother Sea” in the native Huichol Indian language. This retreat offers the atmosphere for you to feel your connection to the earth, to the sea, and to yourself and experience relaxation, renewal, and restoration. Find a quiet place to sit and read, enjoy a beverage, write in your journal or connect with friends, new and old. Enjoy beach time for sun, sand and solitude; swim, walk, read or stretch out for a nap.

Come home to yourself at Haramara

At Haramara you will find yourself nestled in tropical jungle vegetation with vistas that soothe the soul. Local artisan-designed cabanas are electricity-free, inviting us into a deep connection with nature’s rhythms and our own subtle body. Beach access and a stunning infinity pool allow you to enjoy sun, water, and the tropical climate.

Our yoga practices will focus on mindfulness and awareness of the energetic qualities of our being. Our teachings will incorporate the ancient science of Ayurveda, Yoga tune-up therapy, yoga folklore and philosophy. There will be opportunity during the retreat to self reflect through yoga and meditation as well as igniting creativity through journaling, ocean gazing and Mexican Culture. The experience will serve as a beautiful opportunity to deepen the relationship with yourself.

We will offer a perfect blend of asana practices, meditation, self-inquiry, and free time. Additional experiences are offered with a fee. These include cooking classes, trekking and zip-lining, massage, bodywork and more.

Take this opportunity for yourself to unplug and take your yoga practice to new depths. Come home to yourself in the special magic of Haramara. Visit their photo gallery to see cabanas, setting, pool, and more.

Hello You Two , I had an absolutely fabulous experience at the retreat. I’m already looking forward to next year. This is an extra special event and I feel lucky to have been included. I worked doing Seminar Work for 8 years so I know what it takes to make it happen. You are a great team. I felt so at ease even though I didn’t know anyone and I was a novice. Thank You So Much , Melissa Shaw

For me, this retreat was well-timed – – a few weeks into January, a good time for a reset and setting intentions for the year ahead. I have always wanted to visit Islandwood and I was not disappointed. It is a magical place, very comfortable, beautiful, delicious food. Tracy & Terilynn are a dynamic duo and did a fine job with a large (40) group.

It was an entirely positive experience for me. The weather, the lodging, and the food were wonderful. The instructors did a great job of keeping the yoga sessions at a pace that a wide range of students could perform and benefit from. The candles, the poetry readings, and the music encouraged feelings of comfort and peace. I’m very pleased that I decided to attend.

The 8 Limbs organizers were wonderful and on point and well the first evening meal went extremely well, I had deep concerns around the way that NCI staff deprioritized our group and in several cases showed implicit disrespect for the administrative lead. There was an absence of NCI leadership and follow up during the weekend that lead to very uneven care for our group and this truly concerned me. The way our group who paid for an upgrade but were treated like second class citizens as compared to other guests who reaped the benefits of the upgrade. The staff needs an infusion of equity training because I believe implicit bias toward our team lead figured into this. Staff needs some work. Period.
