i look forward to hosting you on your HARMONY + EASE immersive solo retreat experience on the caribbean side of costa rica.
i fell in love with traveling at a very young age + have explored 20 countries + counting. the unknown adventure of traveling foreign lands excites me to the core. immersing myself within the culture for long periods of time as an expat [or sometimes living a nomadic lifestyle] has been my recent love affair. in 2020 i left america to spend a year in quintana roo, mexico [specifically tulum + playa del carmen] + had the very best time of my life navigating my new norm.
my spirit recently led me back to puerto viejo, costa rica where i have been able to bask in every single moment of stillness. the land here is beautiful + the people are friendly + the jungle is nurturing. my very own immersive solo sabbatical has led me to want to extend this juiciness to other like-minded individuals looking to reset + create HARMONY + EASE in their life.
solo travel is freeing for the mind + body + soul!
will you come along with me + explore this beautiful world through the lens of a solo traveler?

exotic animals, beautiful vegetation, + tropical beaches come to mind when people think of costa rica. they hardly consider rasta culture. however, thanks to the entrance of jamaican immigrants, the caribbean coastal province of limón has a firmly ingrained rasta culture. puerto viejo is the rasta of costa rica. this town is a popular spot for nomadic backpackers, surfers + wildlife fans.
puerto viejo de talamanca is a popular tourist destination. it is known in the surfing community for the biggest and most powerful wave in costa rica, known as salsa brava. it is also home to beautiful beaches, such as playa chiquita, playa negra and punta uva, which are a few of costa rica's most spectacular beaches which can be found between puerto viejo and manzanillo. manzanillo is a popular location for kayaking and is 13 km [8 mi] south along the beach. the popular jaguar rescue centre is also nearby. ps. did you know the howler monkey is native to the region?
the townspeople are made up of ticos [native costa ricans], a substantial amount of costa ricans of jamaican descent, as well as a number of europeans who have emigrated to the area. the outskirts of town and the mountains are home to the indigenous bribri people.
this coastal town [puerto viejo de talamanca] in talamanca in limón province in southeastern costa rica, known simply as puerto viejo to locals. puerto viejo literally means “old harbour” + the town was originally called old harbour until the costa rican government institutionalized spanish as the national language in 1948. puerto viejo is sometimes referred to as “wolaba” [or ol´aba] which is how jamaican immigrants in the area pronounced “old harbour”. the government changed the names of the towns and landmarks in the area from english to spanish or native american. the town fields became bri bri + bluff became cahuita. ps. did you know there is another town commonly known as puerto viejo in northeastern costa rica, puerto viejo de sarapiquí, which can confuse visitors?
