This is a 6-day backpacking adventure (8 days with travel) for folks who want a mountain experience and an excellent opportunity to experience the wonder of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, challenging yourself to a week-long backpacking adventure that is sure to be a life-long memory!  We'd love participants and volunteers of The Hospitality Center to join us but this trip is open to anyone.

Wild Hearts will provide all necessary equipment, food for the week and guides.  We will also provide transportation out there and back, some training before the trip. Participants will be responsible for bringing appropriate clothing and food/money for food on the way there and back.

This backpacking trip will be done as a complete group, moving at the pace necessary for the whole group. We will utilize 2-3 person tents, we will be cooking together, and we will have the opportunity to summit a 14,000'+ peak if conditions permit.

This trip is for HC folks looking for a mountain adventure! This promises to be an amazing adventure for those who are up for some mountain fun!

All of our trips are donation-based and our desire is to raise funds for each participant.  If you sign up for a trip, we ask that you raise (with our help) the equivalent of the price listed.

Our goal as a nonprofit organization is to provide wilderness adventures for folks from all walks of life.  We especially strive to provide these trips for folks who are struggling with life challenges.  Because of this, we are donation funded.  The cost listed is a donation.  For many participants fund-raising is appropriate and we can help with that.  Others may be able to cover the donation cost themselves.  If you are covering the cost of a trip that you are going on, keep in mind that it is not tax-deductable as there is a value you are receiving, associated with this activity.

Up to 31 days before the trip start date:

We will issue a full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee.

Between 30 days and 15 days before trip start date:

We will issue a refund of the total donation minus your deposit and a $50 cancellation fee.

14 days or less before the trip start date:

We are unable to issue a refund.  

We ask your understanding in that a lot goes into the planning and preparation, along with food, equipment, camp and hotel reservations, etc.  

We will discuss with you, however, whether there may be an open spot on another adventure this season.  If so, and you are available to participate in that trip, we may be able to apply your amount paid to that trip.

Important Note:

At any time before the trip start date, if your spot is filled with someone on our waiting list, someone you've encouraged to take your spot, or some other "last-minute" participant, and they provide the full suggested donation, we will refund your entire paid amount.

We will spend our first night in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, Colorado to relax and go over our plans for hitting the trail on Sunday!

We will travel to the trailhead and begin backpacking.  We will spend a few hours backpacking and then find camp for the night.  We like to arrive in camp before 2pm so we can relax and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. We will pack up and continue the next morning, find camp again, and then head out to our next destination on Day 4.

We arrive at our next trailhead and head up the trail to our basecamp for the 14er summit that we will attempt on day 6.

Our plan is to attempt a summit of Mount Huron.  This will be a large part of our day, leaving at approximately 5am in the morning and returning approximately 2pm to basecamp.  We will then spend another night at basecamp.

We will pack up and hike out on Friday morning.  Then, we will head towards Denver and drop off anyone who flew into Denver.  The rest of us will drive about 3 hours outside of Denver and spend Friday night in a hotel.  Saturday morning we will then continue our drive home to the Minneapolis area.
