Excellent teachers and course content overall. Sustain: Vermont kickoff; overall schedule and structure of the program. Improve: limit the training to 10 people. We spent half of each Wednesday doing "check-ins" with 17 people. I wouldn't sign up for a training like this again if there were 17 people, and I'm not sure I can recommend it if it is going to continue to be this big. Not enough time to practice teaching in a real-life studio setting because the class size was too big. Could you schedule training days with props at the studio that has the props versus asking us to drive the props around Brooklyn? Spoke the Hub is a dirty, sub-par facility that distracted us from the training. Consolidate Yamas/Niyamas (it was spread out too much) and add at least one session on the Pranayama limb of yoga and how to incorporate it into our teaching. Add a writing requirement for yoga philosophy. As much as I like anatomy and understand its importance, it felt like too much anatomy. Add a session on post-partum awareness on the same day as pre-natal awareness/assists. Add a session on trauma-informed assists. Next year, have the finals in one Heatwise studio versus spread out around town.

Retreat, January 2022: Good location and lodging, spectacular cuisine, friendly owner and staff; well planned orientation and instructive lessons 200-Hour Immersive Yoga Teacher Training: 1. Solid course outline with a well balanced schedule centering on establishing a 60 minute yoga sequence which included stretching, warming, standing, balancing, grounding poses and meditation 2. Two exceedingly knowledgeable, kind and supportive master teachers: Sigrid: meditation, a comprehensive understanding of the seven chakras, yoga history, how to clinic yoga poses, how to conduct a class, proper positioning, the ethics of teaching, diversity in yoga... Allegra: detailed anatomical coursework with respect to achieving the benefits of yoga, how to assist and adjust student poses and posture, how to conduct a class, the ethics of yoga, appropriate phrasing within the yoga classroom, the eight limbs of yoga... 3. Experienced and well-informed guest lecturers who provided in-depth discussions with respect to healthy diet, nutrition, yoga history, the mudras, the use of props, plant medicine, improvisation, pre-natal yoga, touching and assisting The experience was priceless and afforded all nine students a stellar introduction to the pedagogy and continuous practice of yoga. 5/5 stars
