Skills required: Confident intermediate to Advanced.

Departure & Return Location: Meet Into The Wild at Silver City MTB Trailhead, Heemskirk Road, Zeehan

About the West Coast of Tasmania

The west coast is a place of special beauty. It requires planning, patience, and respect.

It can be calm and tranquil one moment and stormy the next. Mountain peaks vanish and appear with the change of clouds; you can get sunburnt in the morning but need a wood fire in the evening. Where rain is measured in metres and the locals play football on gravel. Prepare to immerse yourself in the wild West Coast for an unforgettable adventure.

Mountain Biking on the West Coast

The mountain biking here includes the backcountry ridgeline riding with 730m of descent. Experience panoramic views from various vantage points, allowing you to see where you’ve been and are going.

We recommend a competent level of riding to fully enjoy this experience.

Essential Information

Payment
Full payment is required to secure your booking. Credit cards are accepted, but a surcharge is added.

Minimum Numbers
We require a certain number of bookings to operate each day. If we don’t meet minimum numbers we will provide a full refund.

Changes to itinerary
Heli Biking is highly dependent on weather, so your chosen departure time or location may change. Please remain adaptive to itinerary changes throughout. A full refund will be provided if Into The Wild cancels due to weather.

Have you provided accurate weights? If any weight measurement has been guessed, please take the time to record an accurate weight and resubmit to us via bookings@gointothewild.com.au. An Into The Wild staff member will also double-check this before confirming your booking.

Please arrive promptly.
This allows for aircraft safety briefing, and any repacking to keep within allotted weights or bike or gear cleaning. On arrival we will provide you with a more accurate flight departure time for you.

Bike, Clothing & Equipment

It’s the West Coast of Tasmania, so pack for all seasons. Our guides will always have a rain jacket rolled up in their camel pack.

We always recommend wearing all the gear: Full face helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, MTB shoes.

Please make sure your bike is in good mechanical condition. We will be accessing remote trails.

Your bike and riding gear must to be clean. Even if your bike doesn’t appear dirty from your last ride, it still requires a quick hose down to ensure we don’t transfer any foreign seeds/weeds into the area. Due to our means of transport, hitchhiking seeds run a real risk of being spread far and wide.

Suggested pack list:

  • Water bladder with 2-3 litre capacity in backpack/camelpack.
  • Basic spares: tubes, chain links, multi tool.
  • Snacks i.e. muesli bar etc.
  • Lightweight rain jacket or spray jacket
  • Sunscreen
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Any personal medications

Itinerary

Each day will begin at 8.30am, conclude at 5.00pm. Your flight time will be confirmed closer to the weekend as allocation will be based on weights, group bookings and number of single/double/triple bookings.

Plan on it being a whole day adventure!
