On your first day, we ask guests to arrive around 4pm if they can and join us for a glass of local sparkling wine and canapes.

Around 6pm we will head to the Festivini Wine Tasting event on the Rooftop of the Theatre Dome. This evening Festivini are showcasing Saumur Rose wines with 8-10 wineries presenting their rose wine for tastings.

Afterwards, for approximately 7.30/8pm we will dine at the first of our hidden gem restaurants.

On your second day with us, we will have the following programme:

Breakfast at la Maison trumeau

Brief history and further background to local wines and winemaking in this region

Around 10am, leave for our 1st Domaine visit. Estimated return time of 12:30pm for lunch.

In the afternoon we will take you to the 2nd Domaine visit for the retreat, allowing plenty of time to chat with the winemaker, visit the premises, caves and explore the terroir. Our winery visits aim to showcase the diversity and innovation in the region, offering you a broader insight to the dynamics that make's this region an intriguing place to be a winemaker.

Evening meal will be from 7pm, including our signature blind tasting event, showcasing and opening the conversation about the diversity of wine production in the region.

On your third day with us, we will have the following programme:

Breakfast at La Maison Trumeau

Time in the morning is your free time to visit the region's best food market and explore the town of Saumur. We are happy to make recommendations for your morning or join us while we take in the sights and sounds of the market while enjoying a coffee in our favourite people-watching spot, Café de la Ville

Lunch will be served at 12.30pm

After lunch we will visit 2 winemakers at their Domaines, aiming to return to La Maison Trumeau at 5:30/6pm

Saturday night's restaurant will be booked for 7.30pm

After breakfast, on the day of your departure day, you have flexibility to enjoy the local sights or use the morning to relax and take it easy in our home.

We highly recommend taking in the sights of a flea market/brocante, which are held most Sundays. On this date it will be held in Chinon, approx 30 minute drive from our home. Mandy attends all the markets in the region when she can and if you would like to attend the market for a browse and see a little of Chinon town we will happily take you there, help you negotiate purchases and browse the numerous treasures on offer (in French they call it 'Le Flâneur', meaning to stroll, wander, saunter). We can help you with other suggestions for your Sunday 'Flâneur'

Chinon town is a beautiful and historic place to visit, situated on the Vienne River, the cobble stoned streets and local cafes and restaurants make it a beautiful place for a pitstop before your onward travels.

If your time allows on Sunday, we can offer personal recommendations of vineyards to visit in this region and help you make arrangements for tastings, depending on your itinerary and onward travel plans.

Day 1 - Thursday

We’ve done several European wine tours with our friends but the “wine retreat” hosted by Mandy and Willo was easily the most enjoyable and intense tour we’ve done. As hosts, they had arranged a packed agenda for our time with them and couldn’t do enough to make our experience both first-rate and stress-free. We tasted a huge ranges of wines at the house, at the various wineries visited and at carefully selected local venues. In addition, the food prepared and presented by Mandy was amazing. We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the whole experience.

This was such a nice experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to do something new. We bought a couple of old chairs at a brocante that needed new upholstery. They now look fantastic thanks to our expert instructor and a little bit of work on our part. If you have a family heirloom that needs to be updated or repaired, it means so much more if you do it yourself with the help of this course. As a bonus, the food and wine during the course was top quality. Everything was delicious and served so elegantly and even the vegetarian in our group was quite happy! This retreat was perfect! Our teacher was knowledgeable and patient. We all had different projects and she moved from one to another giving help where needed. Mandy, our hostess served us delicious breakfast and lunch each day on a beautifully set table. My room made me feel like a princess! Although the entire house is gorgeous you can feel that it is a home, and you are welcome there. I would do this retreat again in a heartbeat!
