• Ueno Park – Famous cherry blossom avenue with breathtaking seasonal displays and festival atmosphere.
• Nakameguro - Meguro River: Experience the Breathtaking Beauty of Sakura Along the Meguro River. With hundreds of sakura trees lining its banks, creating a mesmerizing tunnel of pink.
• Shibuya Crossing – Experience Tokyo’s iconic scramble crossing, one of the busiest and most famous in the world.
• Lunch Break – Enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Japanese cuisine.
• Senso-ji Temple – Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple, featuring the vibrant Nakamise Street marketplace.
• Sumida River – Scenic stroll along the river, lined with cherry blossoms in full bloom.

5:00 PM - Return to Hotel: We’ll return to the hotel, giving you time to relax before dinner.

6:45 PM: Please meet in the lobby of the hotel to walk to dinner together as a group.

7:00 PM: Dinner as a group at Kineya
We’ll gather for dinner at the Kineya Shinjuku Dai-ichi Seimei Building, located in the Odakyu Dai-ichi Seimei Building in Shinjuku. Enjoy a meal with the group, reflecting on your day of cultural immersion and cherry blossom exploration.

9:30 AM:  Arrive at Arakurayama Sengen Park

• Location Overview: This park is renowned for the five-storied Chureito Pagoda, with Mount Fuji towering in the background. In early April, the cherry blossoms add a breathtaking touch to the landscape.
• Activities: Stroll through the park’s grounds to admire the cherry blossoms in full bloom, visit the iconic Chureito Pagoda for panoramic views of Mount Fuji, and capture stunning photos of the landscape framed by sakura trees.
• Time Spent: ~1 hour

10:30 AM: Continue to Oshino Hakkai

• Travel Time: Approximately 30 minutes from Arakurayama Sengen Park
• Location Overview: A peaceful village famous for its eight crystal-clear ponds, which are fed by Mount Fuji's snowmelt. The village also boasts traditional thatched-roof houses and a serene atmosphere.
• Activities: Wander around the picturesque spring-fed ponds, sample fresh spring water, and explore local shops selling regional snacks and souvenirs. Enjoy views of Mount Fuji reflecting on the ponds, weather permitting.

11:30 AM: Lunch at a Local Restaurant

12:30 PM: Visit Mount Fuji 5th Station (Weather Permitting)

• Travel Time: Approximately 45 minutes from Oshino Hakkai
• Location Overview: Located at 2,300 meters (7,545 ft) on Mount Fuji’s slopes, the 5th Station offers fantastic views of the Fuji Five Lakes. A popular spot for visitors, especially for those seeking a unique perspective of the mountain.
• Activities: Visit the small shrine and souvenir shops, enjoy panoramic views of the Fuji Five Lakes (weather permitting), and take in the crisp mountain air while capturing some incredible photos.
• Time Spent: ~1 hour

1:30 PM: Stroll Around Lake Kawaguchi (Optional: Oishi Park)

• Travel Time: Approximately 30 minutes from the 5th Station
• Location Overview: Lake Kawaguchi is one of the Fuji Five Lakes, offering serene views of Mount Fuji. During cherry blossom season, the lakeside is framed by delicate pink flowers.
• Activities: Take a leisurely stroll around Kawaguchiko Music Forest or Oishi Park, which is perfect for cherry blossom viewing. Alternatively, enjoy a short sightseeing boat cruise on Lake Kawaguchi for fantastic Mt. Fuji views from the water. Don’t forget to try local treats like dango (rice dumplings).
• Time Spent: 1–1.5 hours

3:00 PM: Visit Fujisan World Heritage Center (Optional)

• Travel Time: Approximately 15 minutes from Lake Kawaguchi
• Location Overview: The center offers educational exhibits on Mount Fuji’s cultural, natural, and spiritual significance.
• Activities: Learn about the mountain's ecology, history, and importance through interactive displays and videos. If you prefer to spend more time enjoying cherry blossoms, you may skip this stop and explore additional parks around Lake Kawaguchi instead.
• Time Spent: 30 minutes – 1 hour

7:45 PM:  Dinner at  the hotel restaurant Robata Oyama

Enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant located at the hotel, where you can experience the flavors of the region and unwind after a full day of exploration.

Lodging: Fuji Speedway Hotel

You’ll check in at the luxurious 5-star Fuji Speedway Hotel, located on the grounds of the world-renowned Fuji Speedway race circuit. Against the awe-inspiring backdrop of Mount Fuji, this hotel offers an exhilarating stay with indulgent hospitality and a motorsports museum. The unique and unconventional hotel is a perfect place to relax and reflect on your adventure.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Hakone before we set off for our next destination: Kyoto.

Today's Activities:
After breakfast, we will transfer to the train station to board the bullet train to Kyoto, the former capital of Japan, renowned for its rich history and culture. The bullet train ride will take approximately 2.5 hours.

10:00 AM: Meet in the hotel lobby for our 1 hour taxi transfer from the hotel to Mishima Station.

HIKARI 509 – Direct Bullet Train (no transfers required):

• Departure: 11:46 AM from Mishima
• Arrival: 1:37 PM at Kyoto

Since the reserved seats include oversized baggage storage, they will be in a full row with the baggage area behind. This means only one seat will have a direct view of Mt. Fuji. (if weather permits)

However, you're welcome to stand briefly near the larger windows by the doors for a better view of Mt. Fuji while on the Shinkansen. It’s a great spot to take in the scenery!

Once we arrive, we will take a taxi from the Kyoto station to our Ryokan, where we will be staying for the next 4 nights.

4:00 PM: Meet in the lobby to take a 15 minute taxi to our tea ceremony.

In the evening, we will experience one of Japan's most cherished traditions: a Traditional Tea Ceremony.

4:30 PM: Private Tea Ceremony at a Local Home
Kyoto is the perfect setting to experience the elegant Japanese tea ceremony, which was popularized here. This ceremony is an important part of Japanese culture, emphasizing grace, hospitality, and mindfulness. You will have the chance to learn how to make matcha tea using traditional Japanese tools, such as the bamboo whisk. A licensed Japanese tea ceremony instructor will guide you through the steps, teaching you about the ceremony’s etiquette and significance.

You will also enjoy three types of traditional Japanese sweets, sourced from a historical Kyoto sweets shop, made with high-quality sugar that complements the tea. At the end of the ceremony, you’ll leave with a greater appreciation for this beautiful custom.

For nightlife, visit Pontocho, a lively, lantern-lit alley along the Kamogawa River. This vibrant area is packed with restaurants and bars spilling onto the riverbank, offering everything from sizzling yakitori to chilled beers. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great place to unwind.

10:30 AM: Meet in the Lobby
After breakfast, we will meet in the hotel lobby and head out as a group to begin today’s culinary adventure in Kyoto. We will be taking a 15 minute taxi to our cooking class location. 

11:00 AM: Kyoto Market Visit, Sake Tasting, and Cooking Lesson
Our day starts with a visit to Wak Wak Kan, where your guide will meet you to begin today’s exciting activities. First, we’ll head to a traditional wooden townhouse for your Japanese cooking class. Under the guidance of an expert local chef, you’ll learn how to make rolled sushi, miso soup, and a delicious cooked salad with seasonal fruit for dessert. Once the dishes are ready, you'll enjoy your creations together for lunch.

Next, we’ll visit a traditional townhouse tucked away in the back streets of Kyoto for a sake tasting. Here, you’ll learn about the delicate art of sake brewing and experience tasting different varieties of this iconic Japanese drink.

After, we will take a stroll through the Nishiki Market, a mile-long covered food market known as "Kyoto's Kitchen." This bustling market offers a wide variety of local ingredients, perfect for learning about Kyoto's produce. You'll have the chance to explore the stalls, sampling fresh vegetables, pickles, fish, and other traditional Japanese foods, as well as buying ingredients for your upcoming cooking lesson.

2:30 PM: Tour Ends & Free Time

After the cooking class, the tour concludes, leaving you free to explore Kyoto at your own pace. You can unwind, visit nearby attractions, or simply relax. For transportation, you may use the Go App or Uber.

Free Time Recommendations:

• Kinkaku-ji /Golden Pavilion (15 min by Uber) – This stunning Zen Buddhist temple, covered in gold leaf, sits beside a tranquil pond, offering a breathtaking reflection of its beauty. Originally the retirement villa of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it later became a Zen temple and has been carefully restored after multiple fires.
• Arashiyama Bamboo Grove (25 min by Uber) – One of Kyoto’s top sights, this serene bamboo forest offers an otherworldly experience.
   

Evening Schedule:

• 6:45 PM: Meet in front of the Ryokan for a group walk to the restaurant.
   
• 7:00 PM: Group dinner at Sugiura (9-minute walk) – Enjoy a relaxed meal together at a local restaurant.

10:00 AM: Meet Your Guide
After breakfast, your guide will meet you in the lobby to begin today’s activities. Prepare for a half day of sightseeing as we visit some of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks.

Important Notes:

This is a walking tour, so please wear comfortable shoes. We will use public transportation for a more authentic cultural experience. We will be trying different street foods for lunch and will be standing as we eat.

Today's Activities:

Fushimi Inari Taisha – Famous for its Thousand Torii Gates, this sacred shrine features vibrant red gates winding through forested mountain trails. As we explore, you'll learn about its historical and cultural significance as one of Japan’s most revered religious sites. (Featured in Memoirs of a Geisha.)

Lunch – Enjoy a variety of local Japanese street foods.

Kiyomizu-dera (Pure Water Temple) – One of Kyoto’s most celebrated temples, Kiyomizu-dera offers breathtaking city views from its iconic wooden stage. The walk to the temple is lined with historic shops, adding to its charm.

Gion District – Kyoto’s most famous geisha district, known for its traditional wooden machiya houses and historic streets. You may even catch a glimpse of a Geiko (Kyoto’s term for Geisha) on their way to evening engagements.

Sanjusangen-do – Home to 1,001 statues of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. This temple boasts Japan’s longest wooden hall and offers a serene and awe-inspiring experience.

We will return to the ryokan by 4:00 PM, leaving you free time before dinner.

• 6:30 PM: Meet in front of the Ryokan for a group walk to the restaurant.
   
• 7:00 PM: Group dinner at Suishin (12-minute walk) – Enjoy authentic Kyoto cuisine in a relaxed setting.

Return to Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei (Ryokan) for a peaceful evening. This traditional ryokan provides a cozy atmosphere to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

9:00 AM – Departure to Nara
After breakfast, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your accommodation.
Take a 44-minute direct train ride from Kyoto Station to Nara.

Kōfuku-ji Temple

Begin your Nara exploration at Kōfuku-ji, a historic temple with origins dating back to 669 AD.
Admire its stunning five-story pagoda, one of the tallest in Japan.

Nara Park

Wander through this vast park at the foot of Mount Wakakusa.
Encounter over 1,000 free-roaming deer, considered sacred messengers of the gods.
Explore peaceful walking trails, ancient temples, and serene ponds filled with turtles and koi fish.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine

Visit Kasuga Taisha, one of Japan’s most revered Shinto shrines.
Admire its vermilion-painted structures, white walls, and cypress-roofed buildings.

Learn about its historical significance and the shrine’s traditional lantern-lined pathways.

Lunch Break – Mizuya Chaya

Enjoy a bowl of delicious udon at Mizuya Chaya, a charming teahouse or local restaurant.
If the weather is favorable, opt for a hanami (flower viewing) picnic. (Maria will take care of this.)

Tōdai-ji Temple

Explore the iconic Tōdai-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most historically significant sites.
Visit the Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall), once the world’s largest wooden structure.
Marvel at the 15-meter-tall bronze statue of Buddha, flanked by two Bodhisattvas.

Yoshikien & Isuien Gardens

Stroll through these beautifully landscaped Japanese gardens, featuring traditional ponds, teahouses, and seasonal flora.

Enjoy a moment of tranquility before heading back to Kyoto.

5:00 PM – Return to Kyoto:Take the train back to Kyoto Station, arriving around 5:00 PM. (Your guide will drop you at the station and ensure you board the correct train.)

6:45 PM – Evening Meet-Up: Please meet out front of the Ryokan to walk to the restaurant.

7:00 PM – Group Dinner at Harebare (5-minute walk from the Ryokan)
In the evening, we will gather for a group dinner at Harebare, a local restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Japanese dishes and unwind after a full day of exploration.

Lodging:
Return to Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei (Ryokan) for a peaceful night’s rest. This tranquil ryokan offers a traditional atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing.

Enjoy a relaxed morning with breakfast, taking in the final moments of your Japanese retreat.

10:00 AM: Check-Out and Transfer to ITM Airport, Osaka
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Osaka’s Itami Airport (ITM) for your international flight home. Please note that Osaka has two airports, so be sure to confirm your correct departure airport code before traveling.
