Itinerary

FULL DAY
VININCUNCA, RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

An unmissable adventure, with our transport we will pick you up from the hotel in Cusco heading south, until we reach Cusipata, from this point we will continue our adventure by trail to the town of Phulawasipata (4,626 meters / 15,177  feet) where it will begin the walk bordering the path of a beautiful stream, in the ascent you will begin to enjoy beautiful landscapes and we will be able to appreciate groups of South American camelids such as llamas and alpacas.

The “Apu Ausangate”, which is the highest snow-capped mountain in this region, will show us its splendid landscapes, being captivated by the beauty of the place, managing to be filled with energy so we will begin to connect with nature. After 1 hour and 30 hours of hiking, you will arrive at the main attraction of this experience, Vinicunca, better known as The Rainbow Mountain (5,020 meters / 164,269 feet), you will have enough time to explore the area, take photos and enjoy the place. After this experience it will be time to start the descent, the return walk will take approximately 1 hour until we reach the place where we will board the transport that takes us back to Cusco.

Irving was an incredible guide (as well as our driver, Carlos. Initially, we told Irving a rough plan of what we wanted to do in Peru, and he offered suggestions as to every aspect of the trip. There were several sites and activities we would not have thought to book without his input and they were well worth it (such as the salt mines, various archaeological sites, and the short Inca trail). He also made sure to bring us to good spots to eat (which were safe for American tourists), provided useful history and context, helped coordinate the best times to visit certain places to avoid large crowds, and answered any questions we had about the trip, language, etc. Irving was also fun to hike with and supplied hiking sticks which were helpful. Definitely very happy we booked with Irving, as the trip would not have been the same had we gone on our own.
