This trip, hosted in collaboration with Nate Perlow of Nate Meets World, is designed for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a truly off-the-beaten-path experience. During your time in Guatemala, you will hike various volcanoes and even do a three-day trek from Quetzaltenango to Lake Atitlán!
While this tour centers on hiking and outdoor activities, we've made sure to fuse in some cultural immersion and educational activities along with some time to grab a beer at one of Antigua's premium breweries or relax in natural hot springs.
This trip is for people who are physically ready for multiple days of hiking, including, numerous volcanoes with steep inclines set at high altitudes. At times our lodging and meals situation will be on the more basic side as we will be in more remote and rural parts of Guatemala. In addition to hiking, this trip is also designed to give you a deeper understanding of Guatemalan history and culture and to support small local businesses!
Heart of Travel and our co-host, Nate, look forward to seeing you all soon!
FEB 19th, SATURDAY: D included
Participants will be flying in from a variety of different places therefore travelers are welcome to choose the flight path that best suits their travel preferences and needs. That being said, we encourage participants to book flights that arrive in Guatemala in the morning or early afternoon so that they have time to get settled before the welcome dinner that evening. If you need assistance booking your international airfare please let us know!
Upon arriving at the airport one of the Program Directors will be waiting to escort you to the beautiful colonial town of La Antigua via private shuttle (approximately a 45-minute drive, without traffic). Once in La Antigua, you will be checked into your hotel and be given a brief orientation of the city. If you need any assistance such as going to the bank, store, or pharmacy, your Program Directors will be more than happy to accompany you.
This day you will enjoy a traditional Guatemalan meal and learn how to make tortillas during an interactive dining experience at our friend Joaquín’s cooking school just outside of La Antigua. We will dine on the beautiful rooftop terrace as we meet the guides and fellow travelers and discuss the upcoming activities for our adventure here in Guatemala.
