About this trip

Destination France: Creating Images That Resonate

Join international equine photographer Scott Trees for an intimate photographic experience at La Motte Lubin, a private horse farm in France’s historic Sarthe region, just south of the Loire Valley.

From October 1–4, 2026, a small group of photographers will work with extraordinary horses, distinctive settings, beautiful light, and carefully planned creative opportunities.

The experience begins Thursday evening with a welcome dinner and presentation, followed by 5 signature photography sessions designed around the best light. Early mornings and late afternoons will anchor the schedule, with selected creative sessions taking place throughout the day.

Five signature photographic sessions will form the heart of the workshop, with additional opportunities developing around the horses, locations, riders, atmosphere, and moments we discover along the way.

This is not simply about photographing beautiful horses in a beautiful place.

It is about learning to observe, anticipate, adapt, and recognize the stories unfolding around you. Together we'll explore how light, timing, atmosphere, and emotion come together to create photographs that transcend the ordinary and resonate long after they have been seen.

Throughout the workshop, Scott will share the thought process behind his work—how he reads light, responds to changing conditions, anticipates behavior, and recognizes the moments that are about to become photographs. More importantly, he will demonstrate how learning to see differently can transform not only your photographs but the way you approach photography itself.

The workshop is limited to eight photographers, allowing for personal guidance, conversation, image review, and a relaxed creative atmosphere. There is a discount for early registration.

The Experience

Our days will follow the light.

Early-morning and late-afternoon sessions will take advantage of the most beautiful conditions, while selected creative sessions may take place at other times depending on the concept, horses, weather, and location.

During the brighter midday hours, participants will generally have a four- to five-hour break for lunch, rest, image review, exploring the area, or simply enjoying the French countryside.

The exact order of sessions may change in response to weather, light, horse welfare, and creative opportunities. Flexibility is part of the experience—and part of creating photographs that feel alive rather than manufactured.
