About this trip

Step aboard our historic Pullman car for the Hudson Valley Hop: Albany to NYC, an inviting journey designed for travelers who want a taste of private rail luxury at an approachable fare. As the train glides south from Albany-Rensselaer, the Hudson River drifts alongside like a ribbon of glass, reflecting rolling hills, storybook villages, and wooded bluffs. You’ll pass the beloved Roosevelt homestead, the stately grounds of West Point perched above the water, and even stone castles that seem lifted from another century. The highlight for many is the majestic crossing near Poughkeepsie, where the great bridge frames sweeping views of river and sky.

From your comfortable seat, attentive attendants provide first-class hospitality with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, snacks, beverages, and onboard Wi-Fi, allowing you to relax in historic elegance while staying connected if you wish. Upon arrival in New York City, your experience continues with access to Amtrak’s First Class Lounge, where you can enjoy additional refreshments and amenities before continuing your travels. Whether you’re sampling the experience for the first time or rediscovering the romance of the rails, this short yet unforgettable ride captures the Hudson Valley’s timeless charm in grand Pullman style.

About your organizer

We operate a historic railcar that's available for use throughout the United States. We offer scheduled and chartered vintage railway travel experiences. The Colonial Crafts was built in 1949 for the Pennsylvania Railroad. It has four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. There is a shower at the end of the hall, a small kitchen, and a very large lounge area that comfortably seats 20 people during daytime travel. Your journey includes all meals and beverages served by our professional staff including a Porter, Steward, and Chef. The Pullman Company assigned this car to Elvis Presley in 1960 after he returned from military service overseas. He used the car to travel from New Jersey to Graceland, and then on to Los Angeles where he completed filming his movie, “G. I. Blues”.
