It’s possible that not everyone knows this, but in the past Florence earned the title of perfume capital. Let’s discover the city of Florence and its hinterland through an unusual tour which takes us to 17 historical perfumeries. Perfumeries and much more, we have brought together shops, pharmacies, drugstores and herbalists to create three unique tours: a way to get to know an old tradition up close, to see how the craftsmen work and live in their own special way.

Gucci Garden and Museum

Within the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, there is the Gucci Garden. The space houses a boutique with unique items, the Gucci Osteria and the Gucci Museum, where the whole history of the Florentine fashion brand is told. The designed space features a store with one-of-a-kind items, the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura – a restaurant by three-Michelin-star chef – and the Gucci Garden Galleria exhibition rooms. The journey inside the exhibition space that spans across two floors begins inside ‘Guccification’, the room where the Double G motif features in many forms up until its transgressive state created by artist Trouble Andrew for Gucci Ghost and the latest ways of writing the House’s name – Guccy, Guccify and Guccification – found by Alessandro Michele through tags on Instagram. ‘Paraphernalia’ is a room dedicated to signature codes and symbols that define Gucci’s identity while ‘Cosmorama’ reveals the historical jet-set customer of Gucci and the evolution of the Crest. The gallery continues on the second floor with ‘De Rerum Natura’, two rooms that recall natural history museums and explore Alessandro Michele’s curiosity for animals and gardens – a vital part of the new Gucci narrative. The sensory journey ends with ‘Ephemera’, an environment where the gaze of the present composes landscapes of objects, videos and memorabilia that retrace the history of the House. The Gucci Eye is the designated symbol of the Gucci Garden, a hypnotic territory that alters the state of consciousness and perception. A place full of magnetism, dispersed in the gallery rooms and you can choose whether to let themselves go inside, drifting around, or look carefully and take in the surrounds.

Uffizi Gallery and Accademia Gallery

Discover the charm of the city and learn about Florence’s culinary scene, visit a local wine shop, to swirl and sip two Tuscan blends.

In the morning, after the breakfast, you'll leave Florence and visit two jewels of Tuscany: Pisa and Lucca. After the breakfast it's time to transfer to Pisa, by private van, the next exciting destination on your trip. Once you arrive the English speaking guide will let you discover the famous Torre di Pisa (leaning tower) and the Piazza dei Miracoli. Pisa is a legendary city and one of the most famous in this region of Italy and offers a great deal more sites than just it’s legendary leaning tower. The Leaning Tower has made Pisa famous all over the world, and in addition to the tower, the city offers many other interesting things to see. When you first arrive at the beautiful Square of Miracles (Piazza dei Miracoli), your sight will be captivated by the magnificent Tower. Don’t just admire it from below: the climb up the tower is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we highly encourage you to experience. You will enjoy both the incredible climb as well as the amazing views from the top. Once you have admired the Tower of Pisa from all angles, continue the visit to the other monuments in the Piazza: the Cathedral and the Baptistery. Along the perimeter of the square, there is also the Cemetery, the Cathedral Museum and the Museum of the Synopses. You can enjoy lunch by your own in one of the charming nearby restaurants.

Continue on to Lucca where, upon arrival, you'll visit one of the cities most loved all of Tuscany, that will make you feel like you’re taken back in time. Its city center, with red bricked walls and paved roads literally oozes history. Most of the attractions in Lucca today show its ancient history: from the trace of the Roman amphiteater that can be seen in the shape of the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro to the archeological remains under the 12th century church of Saints Giovanni and Reparata (the first city cathedral, located just around the corner from the present-day cathedral of San Martino), to the various towers and villas from the 12th to 16th centuries. Other top attractions include the Piazza of San Michele with its beautiful Church of San Michele in Foro, the Basilica of San Frediano as well as the Clock Tower and Guinigi Tower, to name just a few. As you lose yourself in its cobblestone streets, you can’t help but admire its colourful buildings and its stunning architecture. Warm, bold colours such as yellows, oranges, rich turquoise and emerald dominate, making Lucca totally photogenic. You’ll spend more time taking photos than doing anything else.

After the breakfast, the day starts with the visit to an olive oil factory, where you can learn the techniques of production and have a tasting cocktail based on the olive oil directly from the producer that is your guide for this tour.  The olive oil tasting is similar to the wine tasting: just like wines, olive oils have a very wide variety of tastes and aromas. A tasting can both sharpen your palate and allow you to identify what kind of oil you prefer.

On the way to Siena, stop for the visit to a winery in the Montecarlo area. Montecarlo’s wine go back to year 846, but the production of wine is dated previously, probably going back to the Etruscan civilization. Consider that the name of the first borough, destroyed in 1300, was Vivinaia translated as the "road of wine". This area offers some excellent red wines although it’s mainly an area reknowned for white wine, well known over the years by Popes, lords and princes. International grape vines, such as Sauvignon, White Pinot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah have been in use for more than two centuries and have adapted well to this particular Tuscan soil. Mixed with the local vines, Sangiovese and Trebbiano, you obtain a very high quality wine. At the end of the tour it's time to move on to Siena.  

Upon arrival you’ll have time to walk around the beautiful Siena before having dinner on your own in a typical restaurant.

After the breakfast, you’ll taste Siena's main local products with a private walking  tour of the city centre. Siena is likely Italy's loveliest medieval city, and a trip worth making even if you are in Tuscany for just a few days. Today, after breakfast, enjoy the sightseeing of this fantastic city with the English speaking guide and admire the splendid Cathedral built in a Romanesque/Gothic style and by the Palazzo Comunale (town hall). This palace is situated in the picturesque Piazza del Campo, in which the famous Palio takes place every year. Movie audiences worldwide can see Siena and the Palio in the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. Tuscans revel in their culinary heritage, and food is a central part of everyday life in Italy. This tour will introduce you to the Tuscan food culture and Siena's most typical foods, a walk around Siena on the discovery of its best foods and food artisans. Learn about local wine production and taste a typical local white and red wine. Learn to taste extra virgin olive oil and why the Tuscan bread is plain and used in many local recipes. Sample different Pecorino sheep cheeses and distinguish fresco from stagionato with different local honeys. Taste the rare cinta senese, an almost extinct pig that is unique to Siena. Hear of the history of the recipe behind Siena's medieval fruitcake and panpepato, the local pepperbread. Learn how local truffles are found, taste black & white truffles and discover the curious Italian gelato ice-cream culture. Typical dinner in the heart of Siena

San Gimignano, wine tasting and lunch

Tuscany is known for the excellent red wines but few know this small region called San Gimignano where it is also produced an exceptional white wine named Vernaccia. This is a dry wine, not very aromatic but with great structure. San Gimignano is the right region for you if you like white wines more than reds. 

The stop at the first winery will let you know a little bit more about the winemaking process and explore the cellar with one of the staff of the winery who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the wine. Typical Tuscan lunch included at winery. You will taste 3 or 4 wines of the top productions and labels. Usually in Tuscany wineries produce also excellent extra-virgin olive oil, so you will also taste some of the best olive oil of Tuscany. The second cellar produces the famous Vernaccia di San Gimignano and you can taste the simple version and the reserve that normally ages in small oak barrels for 4/6 months. After a quick cellar tour, we will sit down to enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch matched with the different wines produced at the winery. Olive oil on the table is made at the winery itself with the olive trees grown on the property. After the second cellar, we will stop to visit the beautiful San Gimignano a real jewel of the Middle Ages. You will have time to walk through the cobbled streets and stop to photograph the beautiful medieval towers or you can enjoy a homemade ice cream produced by one of the most famous ice-cream shops in Italy.

Chianti, the famous reds wines area

This tour will take you through the beautiful hills of Chianti to visit 2 wineries highly rated by influential wine publications. You will taste the wines of the winery which will typically include at least Chianti Classico, Riserva, and IGT Super Tuscan. Along the road to Chianti, the English speaking driver will explain the history of the region and the main rules for wine appellation. Chianti Classico is one of the most beautiful regions of Tuscany. You can ask the driver to stop on the way to take beautiful pictures with breathtaking views. For this tour we selected two small boutique organic wineries that produce both Chianti Classico and Super Tuscan wines.  For the lunch will stop in a small cellar, this would be the second one, where you can experience fresh local food. This is also a good chance to meet the owner who's also the winemaker and spend a pleasant chatting about wine and local culture. You’ll also have an Extra virgin olive oil tasting and, on request, a quick stop in a medieval setting for photo shots.

Your last day in beautiful Tuscany has arrived. After the breakfast, depending on your flight time departure, take one last day to enjoy the beautiful Siena. Stroll through the streets, drink some delicious espresso coffee, and do some last-minute souvenir shopping.

Pack your bags and head to the hotel entrance. Your friendly driver will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport in Florence. It may be the end of your trip, but you'll have memories from your amazing vacation in Italy that will last you a long time.
