The city center offers many great sights and the city is unique in so many ways. You won’t find the towering skyscrapers of America or the age-old narrow streets, which time has seemingly forgotten and seemingly unchanged since Roman times, as in Europe. Reykjavik is somewhere in between and yet miles away. With its small quirky houses and both tiny and open spaces. It is colorful, modern, charming and old all a the same time. So, don’t forget to bring your camera along, you are bound to find many great photo opportunities.
Hallgrímskirkja Church
We recommend a visit to the Hallgrimskirkja church, which can be found standing on a small hill downtown Reykjavik. A statue of Leif Eiriksson, the Icelandic Viking that found America, stands in front of the church. Hallgrimskirkja church is a popular tourist attraction, just don’t forget to enter the tower and go to the top. It will offer you a great view of Reykjavik.
Sun Voyager
A walk along the shore, where the Sun Voyager and Harpa concert hall stand, is also more than worth it. The Sun Voyager is one of the most popular selfie spots in Iceland, as it offers a great view of mt. Esja and the many small islands in the bay.
Althingi Parliament House
Parliament House, which stands on Austurvöllur square, was built in 1880–81. The garden of Parliament House is Iceland's oldest public garden. Over four of the second-floor windows Iceland's guardian spirits are depicted in low relief: a giant, a great bird, a bull and a dragon.
You can choose from a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses. Whether you’d like to try out Icelandic cuisine, a la carte restaurants, or are in the mood for fast food, you should have no trouble finding a restaurant that suits your needs. But please, don’t forget to stop by the small hot dog stand, called “Bæjarins bestu”, and try out our very special Icelandic hot dog. It’s a treat, we promise.

Thingvellir National Park
Besides being a natural wonder, it is also the sight where the world’s longest continuously run parliament was founded and still running some good 1.000 years later, but now as Althingi in Reykjavik. Thingvellir is also a site of geological wonders, as it lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic ridge. You can clearly see the rift and how the movement of the tectonic plates pulls the island apart, approximately 2,5 cm every year.
Gullfoss Waterfall
The waterfall which gives the Golden circle its name. It is mostly known for its’ beauty, but the sheer power of it has also been the cause of much debate on hydro-plants vs tourism and land preservation.
Geysir Geothermal area
The dormant geyser Geysir, is the one and only geyser that gave all other geysers their name! It is no longer active, but Strokkur geyser erupts every 20 minutes or so, and can reach heights up to 25 meters!
Fjallsárlón is an isolated glacial lagoon in the realm of Vatnajökull. Arriving to the lagoon is like stepping into a dreamlike world that offers spectacular sights. Iceland's tallest volcano, the Öræfajökull glacier, looms above the lagoon and reaches down to the water where icebergs break off into the lake and drift serenely around before melting.
During the tour we will take you on a journey through time and tell you how the local farmers had to struggle with the forces of nature in their daily lives. We invite you to experience the breathtaking natural scenery as we take you on a guided boat tour along floating icebergs and giant glaciers!
What's included?
Warm flotation jacket and a life vest
What do I need to bring?
It is good to wear good shoes for walking as the boats are about 5-min walking distance away. A warm hat and gloves are also recommended.
PLAN B -
Today you will get to know all about the south coast. Your personal driver guide will show you all the good spots such as
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall - Iceland has a lot of waterfalls. A LOT. Each one a little different, a little better than the last! What makes Seljalandsfoss waterfall different and better, is the option to walk behind the torrents of the fall. If you follow the path from the cliff base it will take you right behind the waterfall! You shouldn’t get completely drenched but the view and experience are worth getting slightly soggy for! Take your time - it’s a great photo opportunity!
Skógafoss Waterfall is one of the largest and most elegant waterfalls in Iceland. Enjoy Skogafoss’ beautiful cascade with the width of 25 meters and the cascade drops 60 meters. A waterfall of this size generates a lot of spray, often creating a single or double rainbow on sunny days.
If this waterfall seems to be familiar to you this may not be déjà vu! This location has been quite popular with film-makers, scenes of Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and other productions were shot here.
Reynisfjara Black Beach world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland. Reynisdrangar Sea Cliffs stand under the Reynisfjall Mountain, at the end of a dramatic stretch of black sand beach. They are towering, spiky basalt sea stacks jutting out from the ocean 66 meters (217 ft) into the air. Folk legend says there were two trolls pulling a three-mast ship to the shore unsuccessfully, but were caught by the sunlight at dawn and turned into stone, as happens to trolls when they stay out until dawn. So there they sit just outside the beach forevermore.
Vik is a remote seaside village found South of Katla Volcano. The most popular attraction is the striking Víkurkirkja Church, built-in 1934. Nestled on the top of a nearby hill, the church is considered the safest place to escape to in case of a sudden Katla Volcano eruption and flood. Because of its mild climate, Vik is home to many different species of birds and marine wildlife like the adorable puffins.
