About this trip

Iceland is one of the world’s ultimate islands of contrasts… fire and ice; long nights with colorful northern lights and daylight for 20 hours; glaciers and steaming hot geysers, waterfalls galore, pretty puffins, and magical elves. It is a fierce landscape of volcanoes, plains of mossy, craggy cliffs, and black sand beaches. It is an island still being formed by water, ice, and fire and closer than you believe.

Itinerary

Day 2
Arrive Reykjavik

Arrive in Reykjavik and head toward the famous Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is a geothermal wonder of nature, with pleasantly warm mineral rich geothermal seawater in the middle of a lava field. The high natural levels of silica, minerals  and algae give the Lagoon its rich blue color – hence the name Blue Lagoon. Later, a city tour will show us the highlights of the capital.

Welcome dinner and overnight at your Reykjavík hotel.

Tour guide and driver were very professional, and fun. .They did a great job. Other travelers were also fun and easy to be with. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. The people who took my booking were very unorganized. I was receiving phone messages late the Friday before we left. I was unable to answer them. I was almost picked up at Bangor instead of Ludlow, had no food plan in place and they were confused about my room booking. Lucky for me it all worked aut with help from Marina. We were scheduled to be in PEI right when Hurricane Fiona was going to hit. For some mysterious reason they still sent us to PEI. We spent a day and a half in a hotel and then continued on our trip. We taxed the community that had no power and limited food and water. We did not get to see anything and they put us in danger. I think if someone spent an hour on the phone they could have found us a hotel in Maine where we would spend an extra day there. At least we could have seen some new things. I just cannot imagine what they were thinking.

Nothing wrong with the itinerary, and the play was out of this world. But was unhappy about a few things. We were told to be in Thomaston at 7:10 a.m., a good half hour from our home. We arrived at 7:20. People were standing around the parking lot - no bus. The bus arrived at 7:45. Due to mechanical issues with the bus, we arrived at our lunch destination for a 2:30 lunch - much later than planned and had a 5:30 dinner reservation. Accommodations were nice. We were running late on day 2 as well, which meant less time at one of our shopping destinations. Day 3 was a miscommunication with where to meet the Amish tour guide - another delay. Food was good, except I didn't care for Bird in the Hand Restaurant - very salty, nothing special. Then we found out we could have caught the bus in New Britain, which is right down the street from our home. It was just less than professional.

Trip was canceled again . Only found out when I called to find out where to get picked up . At least the third time a trip has been canceled . Now I’m told I I may have to wait up to 30 days to get refund. I’m done with this tour company . Not going to book anymore with them

Always enjoy my trips w/tour guide Donna McAdam. She is friendly & Informative. I met nice people on this trip. Also I have been pleased w/all the bus drivers on each trip I’ve been on to get us safely & timely to each destination! On another note, the food can be very sporadic in quality on all the trips I’ve been on! The restaurant dinner where we picked from 3 diff meals (this trip) was very mixed up our orders & they didn’t have enough prime rib to go around for the folks that ordered it. They served 3 diff desserts Choco cake, carrot & cheesecake to each table. And when someone said I prefer the chocolate cake because I don’t care for carrot cake, the response was no we don’t have anymore! They really just wanted us out of there! Thought you should know this!

Thank you Patricia. We are thrilled you had a great time! Thanks for your feedback about the restaurant and meals. Many establishments have had staffing trouble and supply issues. We will address this with them. We look forward to seeing you again!

I cannot say enough about my first trip with Tours of Distinction! Our tour guide, Lorraine, our tour director, Julie, our bus diver, Nick were beyond awesome! They were very accommodating and always at our beck and call! They were very personable, helpful and fun! Every minute was filled with eating great food, enjoying fun entertainment, meeting new beautiful people, visiting new places, enjoying pleasant rides across many breathtaking areas of the western part of our country while listening to the history of that area, and then resting comfortably in extremely nice accommodations every night! I will be taking another trip with this company! 🤠
