The world's northernmost capital of Reykjavik which lies just below the Arctic Circle. The city sees around four hours of sunlight a day in winter and 22 hours or more in summer. Surrounded by volcanic peaks and crystalline ocean and boasting a vibrant arts and nightlife scene. 

Join our local guide for a short-guided walk of the capital to visit the old Harbor, city center and Hallgrimskirkja church. We will gather for a group happy hour to get to know your fellow adventurers and then the evening is free for you to enjoy all Reykjavik has to offer!

After a hardy breakfast at our hotel, we depart for Iceland's most photographed location - the Blue Lagoon!

To understand why Iceland's Blue Lagoon is so popular, just imagine bathing in steaming milky-blue waters, sipping a cocktail at a swim-up bar, and looking out over an otherworldly landscape of jagged peaks and black lava fields. This geothermal pool, the most visited of Iceland's many such oases, boasts mineral-rich waters, a luxurious spa, and a magnificent setting, all just minutes from Reykjavik.

We will join a public transfer to the Blue Lagoon complex for our entrance time. Once we get our wrist band, drink token and towel, we find a locker for our stuff, put our swimsuit on and enter the lagoon for an experience you will never forget!  

You can walk all around the main lagoon. Stop by the facial area to get some natural clay for your face,. While your facial is working, cruise on over to the swim up bar for one of their specialty blue drinks, all the while trying to keep a straight face since we all look like extras in a science fiction movie! Be sure to get some fun photos! Relish in the fact that very few have actually experienced this natural phenomenon and here YOU are - in the winter no less! 

Be sure to explore the other parts of the lagoon or use one of the 'cool plunges' to REALLY complete this Icelandic spa experience! After you are done with the lagoon, and your skin is the softest you can ever remember, there are showers and hair dryers in the locker rooms you can use prior to our transfer back to the hotel.

A general admission is included, however, if you want to 'make a day of it' or indulge in some of the other spa options, we can work out the logistics for you - around the time of final payments or before. Blue Lagoon activities can book up quite a bit in advance, plus, transportation arrangements need to be adjusted as well.

Once we get back to the hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure. 

Why not have dinner in one of Reykjavik's many 'Foodie' cafes? Or go for traditional  fish & chips at a local pub? Want a light dinner - why not try a famous Icelandic Pylsa (hotdog), Nothing like ANY hot dog you have ever had at home!

This is an opportunity to personalize your adventure with activities of your choice. Go horseback riding on the unique Icelandic horses, go snowmobiling, snorkel between two tetonic plates, go hiking on one of the many other glaciers not on our itinerary, try ice climbing, or kayaking on a glacial lagoon…the options are endless! 

Want a milder day? How about a Viking Sushi tour, Microbrewery tour or do a self-guided tour of some of the unique museums?

Overnight: Hotel Reykjavik, Centrum (B)

We enjoy our last breakfast buffet at the Hotel Centrum and depart for the Midgard Base Camp. Our guide will pick us up at our hotel and we head off for the famous Golden Circle tour. Some of the sites we will see this today are Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir and enjoy lunch at a local tomato farm, Friðheimar.

After our tour, we arrive at our home-away-from-home for the next 3 nights. We will take part in a short briefing with our private guide about our upcoming adventures and then enjoy dinner at Midgard Base Camp.

After dinner, we get settled into our rooms, hot tub and sauna to chill and wait for the Northern Lights to show up! If the Northern lights don’t show themselves until after we have already climbed into bed, the Base Camp staff will let us know so we don’t miss an opportunity to see them!

Each morning we begin with a delicious breakfast buffet at Midgard Base Camp before our daily adventure. Today we will explore the beautiful South Coast tour. Possible stops include: Skógafoss waterfall, Seljalandsfoss waterfall (you can walk behind it!), black sand beach, Vík, Reynisfjara and Dyrhólaey.

This afternoon, it is Glacier Walk time. We will be provided with all necessary safety equipment and our professional glacier guide will lead us through the amazing Sólheimajökull glacier.  What a photo opp!

When we return to Midgard Base Camp, we can visit the local swimming pool. Sitting in the pool after an active day is very rewarding. The pool area consists of an outdoor pool filled with warm water, hot tubs and a sauna.

Enjoy dinner at Midgard Base Camp Restaurant and do some Lights Hunting – while taking advantage of the rooftop hot tub and sauna as we wait for them to appear. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it!

After our breakfast buffet at Midgard Basecamp we are off on our 4x4 Jeep Tour! Climb aboard this massive super 4×4 truck as we head out to explore the Valley of the Thunder God Thor. Þórsmörk was made in eruptions underneath the glaciers that makes its wonderful/otherworldly landscape. 

On our way inside the valley we will explore the surroundings of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull, the one that erupted in 2010. We stop by the outlet glacier Gígjökull where the eruption first presented itself. Depending upon the energy of the group, we may be able to include a hike into today’s itinerary!

Enjoy a delicious dinner at Midgard Base Camp Restaurant and then there is still a possibility to visit the swimming pool or the Lava Center if we have not done it yet. 

As with the two previous night’s we will search for the northern lights if the forecast is promising.

Overnight: Midgard Base Camp (B, L, D)

After a filling breakfast at Midgard Base Camp, get ready for your final adventure. We will go on a hike to Reykjadalur, the natural geothermal area and for a warm bath. (Bring your swimsuit.)

Don´t feel like dipping into the natural geothermal water? – no problem, there are many amazing hot springs around and amazing landscape to see. At the end of the day, we are dropped off at Reykjavík Airport. Expected arrival to airport warrants booking flights after 6:00 PM.
