This retreat will be centred around the Gaelic festival of Imbolc (first day of Spring) and the day of Brighid, Saint and Celtic Goddess. Imbolc falls in the North-East direction of the Irish Medicine Wheel which is related to wisdom and initiation.
In the Gaelic tradition, Brighid is the Goddess of fosterage, learning, inspiration, smith craft, and healing. Many holy wells are attributed to her as well the eternal flame which has been cared for in Kildare after her transition into a Christian saint. It is this balance between the elements of water and fire that we will explore throughout the weekend.
Lough Gur is an enchanting lake nestled in amongst the hills and fields of East Limerick which are full of history, myth and folklore. It is a true hidden gem of ancient Ireland with many megalithic sites and immense natural beauty. Each day we will embark on a contemplative walk through its many features and landscapes, exploring its many mysteries and deepening our own inner inquiry.
