About this trip

Escape the busy-ness of life and retreat for a weekend into the hills and lake of beautiful Lough Gur in East Limerick. Relax and unwind in a gentle, contemplative atmosphere.

In the mornings we will gather for a group session exploring a particular theme or activity. During the day we will walk the landscapes of Lough Gur for inspiration and contemplative dialogue. In the evening we will use our time for self-reflection, group discussion or to engage in a healing activity.

This retreat will be centred around the Gaelic festival of Imbolc (first day of Spring) and the day of Brighid, Saint and Celtic Goddess. This retreat falls on the new bank holiday celebrating St. Brighid's day.

Closing & Depart

This is subject to change and spontaneity..

While most of the retreat will operate within a small-group container, there will be ample time to wander and reflect in solitude also if you so prefer.

Brighid, Goddess & Saint

Imbolc also falls on what is now celebrated as St. Brighid's day owing to the continuity between Pre-Christian and Christian beliefs. In the Gaelic tradition, Brighid is the Goddess of fosterage, learning, inspiration, smith craft, and healing. Many holy wells are attributed to her as well the eternal flame which was cared for in Kildare after her transition into a Christian saint. It is this balance between water and fire, feminine and masculine, that we will explore throughout the weekend.
