About this trip

The ultimate way to experience Machu Picchu is to walk the path of the Inca's, get off the beaten path, and cover 31 miles of exquisite terrain to one of the seven wonders of the world. The Inca Trail is one of the most famous trails in the world and for excellent reasons. Much of the trail is still the original Inca constructed trail, a true testament to Incan engineering. The trail itself is nothing short of breathtaking, full of deep history and unbelievable stories.  Best yet, our local guides educate you on what you are passing by, and why it matters.

The beauty of this experience is you have the opportunity to see Machu Picchu TWICE.

The first time you will enter via the Sun Gate around 4 pm. I can speak from personal experience when I say that this one of the best time to see this ancient city.  Many of the other tourists have left for the day, and you will find yourself at awe as you stand above the ruins at the Sun Gate. Once we hike down to Machu Pichhu, you will have time to soak it all in, take photos, explore a little and return via bus to Aguas Calientes.  Aguas Calientes is the town that sits below the ruins, and it provides for a fun local flare and chance for a restful nights sleep. The next morning you will ride the bus back up to Machu Picchu as our guides give you an unbelievable tour and education on Incan history.

Don't miss this once in a lifetime adventure. Machu Picchu is everything you've heard, and we can't wait to experience it with you.

*This hike will be difficult. Please make sure you are committed to a training schedule that will prepare you for the terrain and give you the best opportunity to enjoy our adventure.

I had the same questions. Also what airline do you suggest flying Lima to Cusco? I would like to maybe try getting on the same flight as someone else on the trip, I'm flying from Chicago. 1/8/2020, Nikki, maybe we could coordinate and get on the same flights? 1/9/2020. I see that Michelle and Keith sent out some additional information to the group by email. As for me, I have already booked my flights - on American Airlines, going into Lima and then a connecting flight to Cusco. given the altitude, I wanted to make sure I was there at least a couple of days early (prior to our 5/9 start date) to get acclimated. In addition, I also wanted to have time to explore Cusco, the general area and surrounding towns/sights. Update 1/16/2019: Sharie Parks - looks like there are many good hotel options. We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cusco - prior to 9th. There are closer options, which are more centrally located in the center of town.

When you come for a retreat with My1FitLife you will accomplish big things; you will learn to be brave, to explore, to stretch your boundaries and to live your life to the fullest.

This was my first trip with this group and I was blown away! The people were amazing and 8 days on the Canyon filled my soul. So much adventuring from the big rapids to the hiking in the Canyon. I would highly recommend this group. Our outfitters Tour West were also excellent guides and super patient. The meals were amazing and they took great care in ensuring everyone was safe and having a good time. If you like adventure and want to do a bucket list trip with amazing people, this is for you!
The experience was great, the scenery was magnificent, the group of individuals was awesome and the guides were very skilled and had great stories to tell. It was a trip I would do again with this group. Thank you for the great adventure
Nothing but high praise for the whole trip: the initial meet and greet at dinner with our hosts Keith and Michelle, meeting the guides who would safely pilot us through amazing scenery and epic rapids, the camaraderie of, well, all of us, the amazing meals that were made by our guides before and after an often challenging day on the river, the daily hikes, the night camping under the stars, the challenges each day brought and the realization that you CAN do hard things and so much more. If you love the outdoors in any capacity, I highly recommend this trip of a lifetime. It will change you in so many (good) ways.
What an amazing adventure! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to travel with this group. I thought it would just be rafting and I got so much more than I ever anticipated. Looking forward to my next adventure with this group!!
This trip far exceeded my expectations. So much beauty in the surroundings, loved the rapids, hikes, canyoneering, waterfalls...all of it! The people I meet on these trips, including the guides, are always great people, make me laugh so hard and genuinely are just good humans♥️. Can't wait for my next adventure with this group!
