Your adventure begins as we depart from your hometown for our overnight flight to Spain. Settle in and get ready to trade the skyline of New Jersey for the orange groves of Valencia .

Day 1: Friday, August 7 | Welcome to Valencia

• Arrive & Unwind: Upon arrival in Valencia, we will transfer to our hotel for check-in.

• Welcome Dinner, featuring the authentic flavors that make this region a culinary capital.

Days 2 & 3: August 7 & 8; Landmarks & Legends by Tuk Tuk & San Jose Caves Extravaganza

Maximize your sightseeing with an open-air Tuk Tuk Tour at 2:30 PM, weaving through the city's diverse architectural history.

• August 09; The Caves of San José Tour at 8 AM are an unmissable excursion if you're in Valencia.
  Head to the caves with your guide and explore the area on foot and by boat. Make your way along the longest navigable underground river in Europe and see stalactites, stalagmites, and UNESCO-listed cave paintings.

Day 4 | Monday, August 10: The Road to Barcelona & Medieval Majesty

Bid farewell to Valencia as we journey north along the scenic Mediterranean coast.

• A Cinematic Stop: We’ll pause at the stunning Old Town of Peñíscola. Known as one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, its sea-swept fortress and medieval streets famously served as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

• Arrival: We continue to the sunny shores of Barcelona to check into our hotel and soak in the first glimpses of the Catalonian capital.

Day 5 | Tuesday, August 11: Montjuïc Heights & The Gothic Soul

Today is a deep dive into the history and breathtaking vistas of Barcelona.

• Panoramic Montjuïc: We’ll drive up Montjuïc Mountain for sweeping views of the city. We’ll visit the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, a 1992 legacy landmark, and admire the grand, domed exterior of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC).

• Vibrant Squares: Pass through Plaça d’Espanya, framed by its iconic Venetian Towers and the Magic Fountain, before heading to the bustling Plaça de Catalunya.

• The Gothic Quarter: Step back in time with a guided walking tour through the Barri Gòtic. We’ll wander through the Plaça del Rei and navigate narrow medieval alleys where the 2,000-year history of the city truly began.

Today we journey west from the coast toward the Ebro River, stopping to uncover the hidden gems of the Spanish interior.

• Cultural Crossroads: Our drive includes stops in Valls, the home of Catalonia's human towers (castells), and Lleida, where we catch glimpses of the striking Seu Vella cathedral overlooking the plains.

• Evening in El Tubo: Upon arrival in Zaragoza, we’ll dive straight into the city's legendary culinary soul. We’ll wander the winding lanes of El Tubo, the city’s buzzing tapas quarter, to experience a vibrant evening of street culture and local flavors.

Day 8 | Friday, August 14: Zaragoza’s 2,000-Year Heritage

Spend a full day exploring the stunning architectural evolution of one of Spain’s oldest and most spirited cities.

• The Grand Plaza: Stand in the Plaza of Our Lady of the Pillar, one of the largest pedestrian squares in Europe. This vibrant social hub is framed by monuments and serves as the city’s spiritual and cultural centerpiece.

• Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar: Visit the first temple in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Marvel at its iconic riverside domes and towers—a spectacular site from the outside with an even more breathtaking interior.

We depart Zaragoza at 9:00 AM, leaving the Ebro Valley behind for the emerald hills and salty air of the Atlantic coast.

• Sun & Surf in San Sebastián: Spend a relaxing afternoon on the golden sands of La Concha or Ondarreta beach. Whether you choose to dip into the refreshing Bay of Biscay or stroll along the elegant promenade, it is the perfect introduction to the "Pearl of the North."  

Day 10 | Sunday, August 16: The Elegance of Santander

We continue west to Santander, a city of royal history and sophisticated seaside charm.

• El Sardinero Beach: Relax on the pristine shores of El Sardinero. Surrounded by gourmet ice cream stands, lively restaurants, and the historic Gran Casino, this area is the heart of Santander’s high-end coastal life.  

• Mercado de la Esperanza: Dive into Cantabrian culture at this architectural gem of iron and glass. Built in 1904, this bustling market is home to 80 stalls featuring the region’s finest local produce.  

• The Royal Peninsula: Witness the magnificent Palacio de la Magdalena. Once a summer residence for King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia between 1913 and 1930, this stunning palace remains the most impressive landmark on the coast.  

Day 11 | Monday, August 17: Santander Excursions

Today is dedicated to the scenic beauty and maritime heritage of the Cantabrian capital.

• Historic Architecture: A closer look at the Palacio de la Magdalena to appreciate its unique early 20th-century design and panoramic bay views.  

• Maritime Heritage: Visit the Maritime Museum of Cantabria to explore the deep-rooted relationship between the local people and the sea.

Day 12 | Tuesday, August 18: The Emerald Heart of Galicia & Family Heritage

We leave the Cantabrian coast behind and venture into the lush, mist-covered landscapes of Galicia.

• A Personal Pilgrimage: Our journey includes a special visit to the town of Cabanas, an intimate opportunity to walk the streets of your grandfather's hometown and connect with ancestral roots.

• The Edge of the World: If time permits, we will continue to Muxía, a stunning coastal village where the rugged Atlantic cliffs meet sacred legends at the Sanctuary of Virxe da Barca.

• Arrival in Santiago: We conclude our day in Santiago de Compostela, checking into our hotel for a two-night stay in this historic pilgrimage destination.

Day 13 | Wednesday, August 19: The Majesty of Santiago de Compostela

Spend the day uncovering the soul of the city that has served as the final stop for millions of pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.

• The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela: Visit this legendary masterpiece of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture. Stand in awe of the Pórtico de la Gloria and witness the burial place of Saint James the Apostle.

Today we cross the border into Portugal, stopping to explore the birthplaces of Portuguese identity before arriving in the "City of Bridges."

• Historic Highlights: We begin with a visit to Braga, one of the oldest Christian cities in the world, and the Centro Histórico de Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "Cradle of the Portuguese Nationality."

• A Riverside Arrival: Upon reaching Porto, we’ll meander through the historic Ribeira district and admire the Palace of Arts. We’ll visit the majestic São Bento Railway Station, famous for its 20,000 blue-and-white tiles depicting Portugal's history.

• The Most Beautiful Bookstore: Discover Luvraria Lello, an architectural masterpiece of Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau design. Wander its iconic curved staircase and stained glass, which famously inspired the world of Harry Potter.

Event Name: Aveiro: The "Venice of Portugal" & Ovos Moles Tasting Event Description: On our journey toward Lisbon, we stop in Aveiro, the vibrant capital of the Ria. This unique city is set upon a vast lagoon where the freshwater of the River Vouga meets the sea.

• Explore the Canals: Marvel at the "water streets" and the brightly colored barcos moliceiros gliding through the city.

• Ancient History: Founded in the time of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Aveiro is now one of the most interesting cities on the Portuguese coast.

• A Sweet Tradition: Take time to discover the city’s history and taste the traditional "Ovos Moles" pastry, a local delicacy.

Day 17 | Sunday, August 23

Event Name: Fairytale Sintra, Coastal Cascais & Fado Dinner Event Description: Experience a day of royal elegance followed by the soulful sounds of Lisbon.

• Pena Palace: Explore the vibrant, fairytale architecture of Sintra’s hilltop crown jewel.

• Charming Cascais: Visit this elegant seaside retreat and enjoy its coastal beauty.

• Authentic Fado: In the evening, immerse yourself in an emotional Live Fado Performance during dinner in the historic districts of Alfama or Bairro Alto.

Day 18 | Monday, August 24

Event Description: Spend your morning diving into Lisbon's modern culture before heading south to the coast.

• Foodie Highlights: Visit the Time Out Market (Mercado da Ribeira) to sample gourmet dishes from Lisbon’s top chefs.

• Art & Architecture: Discover the MAAT Museum, where you can walk across a stunning rooftop with panoramic river views.

• Algarve Excursion: We conclude the day with a journey to the Algarve, famous for its golden cliffs and breathtaking Atlantic beaches.

Day 19 | Tuesday, August 25

Event Description: After a final Portuguese breakfast, we depart for the airport for our flight home. We leave with unforgettable memories of the "City of Seven Hills," the sounds of Fado, and the stunning Portuguese coastline.

Travel Insurance is highly suggested for international travel. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case of a flight cancellation or any change that may come up with travel plans. In addition to refunding your trip fees, it may also include medical expense coverage (remember that your USA based health insurance may not apply in Europe) and reimbursement for lost, damaged or stolen luggage and personal items.  

You may first check with your credit card company to inquire about their travel insurance services.  

We suggest getting a policy from either Travel Guard, Allianz Travel Ins, Trawick or similar companies. 

Cancellation Policy

If you or any member of your party, cancel your arrangements at any time, written notification from the person who made the booking must be received by email at gorotraveltours@gmail.com

If you must cancel, the initial full deposit is non-refundable. We will grant your transfer of our land trip to another participant knowing they will satisfy the balance due on the final payment date. This transfer will NOT INCLUDE any Inter-Island Airfare or Any Excursions which are Non-Transferable on our end. 

If cancelled prior to 60 days of trip, a 25% refund of payment received will be returned. Any cancellations made within 60 days or less will be forfeited, due to our obligation and non-refundable transactions, with our accommodation, transport and excursions. 

Exceptions to our policy cannot be made. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
