Hi there ❤️

I'm honored to share more about this Costa Rica Yoga + Surf Retreat with you.

For me, Costa Rica is one of those magical gem places you visit, and part of the sweetness of that place stays with you forever.  The kindness, purity, and vitality of the people and the land resonated deeply with me when I visited in my early 20s. The prana (life force energy) is so rich here. The mountains and cliffs meeting the ocean, the pristine jungle and the commitment to preserving the land, and the feeling of safety and ease to explore a place that still feels untouched and beautifully rugged. Over the last couple years I've been feeling called to return here and reconnect to this space while sharing in the immense beauty of a yoga retreat at Blue Osa, a beautiful, luxury eco-resort.

A quick note about yoga retreats! In case you haven't been on one with me, or on one before. I have lead about 15 retreats over the past 6 years, and every single time I arrive I am thank myself over and over again for carving out time and space for what really feels like a sacred ritual of taking a week each year to dedicate to daily practice, rest, room for spontaneous adventure, deeply nourishing food, movement, and of course community of like-minded practitioners seeking to elevate ourselves not only to reconnect to the joy, bliss and freedom that is available to us in each moment, but also because we understand that filling our own cups back up allows us to be of great service to our family, friends and the world.

The foundations of my retreats are:

  • Arrive just as you are, and receive the gift of time, space and immense beauty.
  • Reconnect to your body and vibrant health through daily movement, nourishing, lovingly-prepared food, rest, and play.
  • Be around people who are like you: dynamic, inherently creative, seeking to joyfully realign, feel inspired and connect to your highest self. Spontaneous conversations are some of my favorite parts of retreats.
  • An element of travel always opens us to new perspectives and a sense of beginning again, here and now. Appreciation for culture and place.
  • Deepen your practice, learn through your own embodied experience and from the wisdom that yoga philosophy offers, and feel supported in spiritual community and practice. Practices and workshops to engage your mind and the part of you that always wants to learn, and of course open your heart, and strengthen your body while softening your shoulders ;)
  • Begin to feel the affects of daily nourishment in your body, mind and spirit after a few days of retreat, and feel connected to the part of you that knows that all is possible. Feel yourself begin to dream, vision and connect to what you want to cultivate in your life most.  We will have time where we talk about the yogic practice of intention, vision and manifesting. And this also tends to happen very organically when we have mental space and time, and when we feel alive in our bodies - that the full possibility and sweetness of life allows us to dream in new ways we hadn't yet imagined.
  • Make space for magic to come through - set yourself up for continued growth, love, ease, and clarity!!

Theme of this retreat: While all retreats reveal their magic in the moment, my intention or theme for this retreat is around centering in ourselves and all that is possible now. Over the last couple years, our sense of what's possible has shifted, likely a few times. This trip is a really special opportunity to reawaken and reimagine all that is possible for us, starting with our health and being in an environment that nourishes the heart, mind, body and spirit.

As a dedicated student of yoga for over a decade, I truly believe that nourishing ourselves nourishes all life. Investing time and energy back into ourselves is essential to remember we are not only here to be of service, but to know ourselves as divine and worthy of receiving as well. We will use the yogic philosophy of the 8 limbs of yoga as a foundational teaching of this retreat, and explore how we can use the limbs to experience the joy of the inner most self, and express that in our being. We will also have a couple afternoon workshops on invoking possibility, learning energy tools and yoga philosophy that support clear and intuitive visioning. This material is deep and rich and I reserve for retreats when we have time and space to dive in.

Yoga Practice: The morning yoga practice will be a steady, vinyasa practice with a focus on connecting or reconnecting to a strong, steady foundation. All-levels or practitioners are welcome, and I will offer in every practice options for rest and modifications as well as to amplify and advance your practice. I recommend using the retreat as inspiration to practice yoga at least twice a week leading up to this time!

Come join us! This retreat is a time for you to slow your roll.. to live in the present, be wonderfully pampered with delicious meals, transformative yoga, immersed in nature and open to all that possible for your life! Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

With love, Julie + Kirin

About your organizer

I draw on the contemplative traditions of reiki, meditation, yoga, nutrition, positive psychology and integrative wellness to address the entire human experience - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. I teach a steady, strong and spirited vinyasa class. Classes are thoughtfully designed to the seasons and time of day. You can expect to chant, sweat, feel your heart come alive and learn new elements of yoga philosophy in each class. I also love teaching restorative yoga and yoga nidra in late afternoons and evenings on retreat.
