About your trip

I attended my first weeklong silent retreat in 2022 and it was one of the most profound experiences I have ever had. I couldn’t have anticipated the insights and revelations that unfolded day after day. Without devices and distractions, sitting and walking and eating in silence, I got to know myself in a very intimate and honest way. I could see clearly the ever-changing nature of my mind and thoughts, the gravitational pull of my judgements, as well as the deep wisdom of my heart and soul. Whatever I was seeking, it was all right here, all along.

As the Buddhist teacher Pema Chödrön writes, “One of the main discoveries of meditation is seeing how we continually run away from the present moment, how we avoid being here just as we are.” Our capacity to be with what is - without clinging to (the pleasant) or pushing away (the unpleasant) - is the doorway to freedom. With conscious awareness, we learn how to navigate the ups and downs of being human with greater ease. With mindfulness and compassion, we discover within ourselves an inner refuge peace.

This silent daylong retreat is open to everyone. No previous experience required.
Learn to stabilize your attention in mindful awareness, meeting whatever arises with equanimity.
Through talks, meditation and movement, connect with your innate wisdom within.
Practice cultivating a kind and honest relationship with yourself - body, mind and heart.

The setting for our inward journey is the beautiful Green Gulch Farm & Zen Center in Marin Country. Our day together will include: dharma talks, Q&A, guided instruction, silent walking and sitting meditation, breathwork, slow flow yoga, a nourishing organic lunch and tea service.
