This morning you head to Waterford and Curraghmore House, a significant estate that's been home to Ireland's most prominent families since the Norman conquest. The Marquess and Marchioness of Waterford host you personally for a private tour of the house and grounds. You'll see how women shaped life in this place and the landscape around it. There's a hawk demonstration and lunch in the main dining room. Tonight you return to Lyrath for dinner and rest.
Private tour of the house and grounds plus Hawk demonstration and lunch in the main dining room hosted by the Marquess and Marchioness of Waterford at Curraghmore House.
Curraghmore House in Waterford is the historic home of the 9th Marquis of Waterford. His ancestors came to Ireland from Normandy after a 100-year stopover in Wales around 1170, or, about 320 years before Columbus ‘discovered’ the New World. Some 2,500 acres of formal gardens, woodland and grazing fields make this the largest private demesne in Ireland and one of the finest places to visit in Ireland.
As the sun dips, trade manor halls for medieval streets on a guided witch-trial walk through Kilkenny, uncovering stories of women persecuted centuries ago.

Today you head to Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula to visit The Blasket Centre, a museum dedicated to the literary heritage of the Blasket Islands. The people who lived on these remote islands created remarkable literature, including the memoirs of Peig Sayers and the classic Twenty Years A-Growing. These works offer raw, honest accounts of island life and remain important to Irish literary history. You'll walk on Coomenoole Beach, which was featured in the film Ryan's Daughter. After lunch in Dingle, you return to Killarney for the evening.
Head to the Dingle Peninsula and the Slea Head Drive, with time to walk the Atlantic beaches along the way.
Tour Slea Head and walk the Atlantic beaches of the Peninsula. I would suggest a stroll on Coomenoole beach. This small but beautiful beach was used as one of the film locations for the filming of 'Ryan's Daughter'. It is the closest beach to Slea Head and has dramatic views. Please note: The currents here are extremely dangerous, and visitors should not enter the sea.
Step into the Blasket Centre, a heritage museum honoring the islanders evacuated from the Blasket Islands in 1953.
With stunning views of the wild Atlantic coast and islands at the halfway point of the Slea Head Drive, the Blasket Centre is a fascinating heritage and cultural centre/museum, honouring the unique community who lived on the remote Blasket Islands until their evacuation in 1953. The Blasket Centre tells the story of island life, subsistence fishing and farming, traditional life including modes of work and transport, home life, housing and entertainment. The Centre details the community’s struggle for existence, their language and culture, and the extraordinary literary legacy they left behind- classics such as The Islandman, Twenty Years A-Growing, and Peig.
Return to Killarney and free for the evening.
