We will fly out of OKC to MNL. Arriving the night of the 24th and staying the night at the Belmont in Manila.
The next four nights will be at Atlantis Puerto Galera dive resort. We will have a four and a half hour transfer to the resort. We will be diving on day one at the resort. From wide angle to macro, Puerto Galera offers over 40 dive sites along its coast, with great diversity: from relaxed critter diving (haven for photographers!) with an abundance of reef fish, to wonderful drift dives,a couple of small wrecks, and a day trip to the incredible Verde Island. With several inner bays offer shallow coral gardens and sandy patches, while the outer bay walls offer incredibly vivid corals, with canyons, swim throughs, rock formations and a couple of small wrecks with heaps of reef fish.
Verde Island is a volcanic island situated along the bodies of Verde Island Passage between the islands of Luzon and Mindoro, Philippines. It was in 1988 when a small village was connected to mains electricity through the effort of a European project using technologies such as solar panels for the island's self-sufficiency. Since then, it has been declared by the Philippine Tourism Authorityas one of the country's marine reserves.
We will head back to the Manila airport and take a short 45 minute flight to Dumaguete.
Headed back to Manila we will have a short 45 minute flight to Dumaguete. The next 6 nights will be at the gorgeous Atlantis Dumaguete resort. The frogfish capital of the Philippines, Dumaguete, with its black volcanic sandy beaches, offers divers a great opportunity to see unique macro marine life on sandy patches, hard coral reefs, and artificial reefs (including cars, various structures, and more!). From Dumaguete, you can dive over 20 coastal dive sites, the healthy reefs around Apo Island with over 400 documented species of corals (that’s 65% of the world’s corals!), the vibrant walls of Siquijor, and snorkeling with whale sharks in Oslob!
Apo Island /ˈæpoʊ/ is a volcanic island covering 74 hectares in land area, 7 kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island and 30 kilometers south of the Negros Oriental capital of Dumaguete in the Philippines. The name "Apo" means "elder" or "respected ancestor" in the Visayan languages.
The marine habitat around the island is a marine reserve, protected by the National Integrated Protected Area Act (NIPA) and under the jurisdiction of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB). It has become a popular dive site and snorkeling destination with tourists. There are two resorts on Apo Island, each with a dive center: Apo Island Beach Resort and Liberty's Lodge. There is also a ranger station and a lighthouse.
We will be taking a ferry to go snorkel with the world famous Oslob Whale Sharks!
We will fly back to Manila to get on our international flight back home.
