Join our expert Bold Spirit facilitator on this eight-day, women-only, small group adventure to Rome and Tuscany. Your dolce vita journey kicks off in Rome, the pulsing heart of Italy, where mopeds buzz and the gelato flows in rainbow hues. Step into 3,000 years of history and discover the art, food, and people that put Rome at the top of travelers’ lists. Train your camera on landmarks such as the Appian Way and the Colosseum as you explore this achingly beautiful city with a group of women who love adventure as much as you do. Delight in the twists and turns of Trastevere, a charm-packed neighborhood with excellent shops and nightlife.
Then go north to cross Florence’s bridges and admire the abs on Michelangelo’s David in the Galleria dell’Accademia. Italy is a place to eat well and often, and you will do both, especially in Tuscany, land of Chianti and medieval hill villages. Learn to discern between oils in a local olive oil class followed by a family-style lunch in the Tuscan countryside. Get your self-care on at a thermal spa in a region that has been bewitching globetrotters for generations. This trip is about the good things in life: friendship, fun, and food. Leave the logistics to us and prepare to be impressed.
Your trip begins in Rome with a private transfer to your centrally located hotel in the bustling Trastevere neighborhood. In the evening, get your bearings on an orientation walking tour with a local guide followed by a welcome dinner at a Roman restaurant where you’ll get to know all the bold women joining you on this special experience.
The next two days are dedicated to sampling the best of Rome. You will dive into the ancient core of the city with a savvy guide who will lead you through the Colosseum and San Clemente. Then join an archeologist for an exclusive glimpse into a working excavation site, Nero’s Golden House. On the outskirts of Rome, you’ll saddle up to ride along the Appian Way, a cobblestone “queen of roads” dating back to 312 BC. (Other options available for those who don’t ride.) Plan to experience the city with your Bold Spirit crew but also have “you time” to discover Rome at your own pace or just chill.
Once you’ve tasted Rome, it’s time to zip north to Florence and sample city life at a slightly slower pace. Explore the food scene at Mercato Centrale before a tour of the Duomo, an architectural masterpiece. See the city from above at San Miniato al Monte, then check out David’s abs at the Accademia before taking your taste buds for a dazzling spin as you enjoy a walking foodie tour visiting many authentic shops and eateries.
It’s a quick jump into the Tuscan countryside from Florence, where you’ll learn to discern between oils during an olive oil tasting experience with a licensed expert. Afterward, be ready to put on an apron and lend a hand in preparing a traditional lunch in a family home. The best part is sitting down to enjoy this multicourse meal while swapping stories.
In the afternoon, you’ll have some tough choices to make: should you soak in the thermal pools, walk in the gardens, or get a massage? Our hotel spa excels in making women feel pampered, so get ready to relax and unwind.
Alas, it’s time to head back to Rome, but not without a few stops along the way. No trip to Tuscany is complete without wine tasting. Our private driver will take us into Chianti Classico country where wine and lunch await. We’ll make one more stop at a picturesque Tuscan hill village before rolling on to Rome.
You’ll have a few hours in the city so you can catch anything you missed during your first few days, such as cathedrals, museums, shopping, or one last scoop of gelato.
We conclude our Bold Spirit adventure together with a farewell dinner at a typical Roman eatery. You depart the next day via private transfer to the airport or are welcome stay on to explore a bit more on your own. (Or arrange an extension trip with us to see more of Spain and Southern Europe. We are happy to help!)
