Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival to Cusco & Cusco City Tour

This morning you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival to Cusco, you will be greeted and taken to your Cusco hotel to settle in.

Today's tour will take you the most important temple of the Inca Empire, the Sun Temple, known as Qoricancha.  Here, you can observe detailed and intact architecture, and within the temple you will see smaller temples dedicated to the moon, rainbow, stars, lightning and thunder, among others.  From there, you will go to an important religious site called Sacsayhuamán which features immense stones. Although the site was religious, the Spanish considered it a military fortress because of its location and the way it was built. Next, you will visit Qenqo, a site built in a natural rock formation which was created to represent the Andean constellations and the concept of the three worlds, each one representing sacred animals: the condor, puma, and snake. After that you will travel to Puka Pukara, which was a shelter for travelers coming to Cusco from the Amazon. It was also a military center and used to protect the nearby temple located at Tambomachay. Your last stop will be Tambomachay, known as the Temple of Water, where the Incas practiced religious traditions tied to water in order to rejuvenate the land.

My trip to Peru exceeded any expectation that I had. Every day was nothing short of an adventure. There was a great balance of adventure, leisure, and relaxation. Kristy, our trip organizer, was beyond friendly and the lines of communication between us were clear and concise. Any time I had questions about our itinerary she was there to help and divulge more information almost instantly. I never felt worried or anxious that our itinerary would be set off course whatsoever. I would do this exact trip 10-times over if I could beginning tomorrow! Highly recommend.

Everything was well planned, very professional, stress free and comfortable. Our guide Amelia was a sweetheart, our driver and our greeter at the airport was very nice. We saw so many things in our short amount of time in Cusco that we probably would have missed if not for Miski Travels. Thank you very much for everything!!
