Today we will depart the convention center and travel to one of the Southwest’s most spectacular routes – the Jemez Mountain Trail, declared a National Scenic and Historic Byway in 1998 in recognition of its wonderful natural and historic resources. Jemez Pueblo, one of the nineteen Native American Pueblos of New Mexico, situated against the deep red rocks of the Jemez Mountains provides dramatic scenery. Get off the beaten path and traverse the mountain roads along the Jemez
River, gurgling hot springs, and through the high elevation Gilman Tunnels, blasted out of the mountain in the 1920’s for logging. You will return to your hotel after your ride dreaming of grand vistas, ancient red rock canyons, and stories of the mountains.
NOTE - There will be a significant elevation change on this tour.
