Day One – Welcome to Ireland!

You’ll be warmly greeted at Dublin Airport at 10:00 AM by your hosts, Joanie Madden, Mary Coogan along with Bruce Foley and your friendly coach driver, Eamonn Dempsey.

Our adventure begins with a visit to Ireland’s most popular attraction—the world-famous Guinness Storehouse. Here, you’ll wander through seven fascinating floors that tell the story of Ireland’s most iconic brew, from its humble origins to its global fame. The tour culminates in the spectacular Gravity Bar, where you can savor a perfectly poured pint while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views across Dublin city.

After lunch, we journey west to our first castle stay—the enchanting Barberstown Castle, our home for the next two nights. Dating back to the 13th century, this storied fortress beautifully combines medieval grandeur with modern luxury. Through the centuries, Barberstown has hosted nobles, scholars, and artists alike—including legendary guitarist Eric Clapton, who owned the property in the 1970s. Today, it invites guests to experience the rare delight of sleeping within centuries-old walls while enjoying the comfort and elegance of a four-star hotel. Surrounded by lush gardens and steeped in atmosphere, Barberstown is the perfect place to begin our Irish journey. Take time to stroll the grounds, soak up the history, or simply relax before we gather in the evening for a festive welcome dinner, followed by an unforgettable night of music with Joanie and Mary.

Day Two – Silver, Style & Studs

After a hearty Irish breakfast, we’ll set off for a sparkling start to the day with a visit to Newbridge Silverware, renowned for its beautifully crafted jewelry, homeware, and fashion collections. You’ll have time to browse the stylish showroom, explore the fascinating Museum of Style Icons—featuring costumes once worn by Hollywood legends—and perhaps pick up a unique gift or keepsake to take home.

Next, we continue to one of Ireland’s most cherished attractions: the Irish National Stud & Gardens. This world-famous facility is not only a working stud farm that breeds champion thoroughbreds but also a tranquil haven of breathtaking gardens. Wander through the exquisite Japanese Gardens, considered among the finest in Europe, and the serene St. Fiachra’s Garden, which celebrates Ireland’s monastic heritage and quiet spirituality.

Depending on timing and schedules, your afternoon may even include the thrill of a day at the races at either Punchestown Racecourse or The Curragh—two of Ireland’s premier racing venues. Whether you’re an avid racing fan or simply wish to soak in the excitement, it promises to be a quintessentially Irish experience in the heart of County Kildare.

We’ll then return to the warm embrace of Barberstown Castle for another exquisite meal, followed by a phenomenal evening of music with Joanie and Mary.

Day Three – Through Ireland’s Past to a Castle’s Embrace

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at Barberstown Castle, we bid farewell to County Kildare and journey northwest to Strokestown Park House in County Roscommon. This beautifully preserved 18th-century Georgian mansion provides a powerful window into Ireland’s layered past. As we explore its elegant rooms and manicured grounds, you’ll also visit the National Famine Museum, which offers a deeply moving and informative account of the Great Irish Famine and its lasting impact on Irish society and emigration.

Our travels continue to the picturesque riverside town of Carrick-on-Shannon, a charming gem in County Leitrim. Here, we’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch at the beloved Cryan’s Hotel, where warm hospitality and hearty cuisine are served alongside sweeping views of the majestic River Shannon. Take a moment to soak in the atmosphere of this scenic town, known for its artistic spirit and gentle pace of life.

In the afternoon, we make our way to The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, an award-winning craft distillery celebrated worldwide for its unique Gunpowder Irish Gin. On a guided tour, you’ll learn how this iconic spirit is created using exotic botanicals and traditional distillation methods. A tasting in the inviting distillery bar provides the perfect finishing touch to this flavorful experience.

As evening approaches, we arrive at our grand home for the next two nights: the magnificent Kilronan Castle Estate & Spa in County Roscommon. Nestled among lush woodlands and overlooking a tranquil lake, this 19th-century castle seamlessly blends historic charm with modern luxury. Inside, you’ll discover majestic four-poster bedrooms, grand drawing rooms, and crackling fireplaces that invite you to linger. The estate also boasts a world-class spa and leisure facilities, allowing guests to indulge in relaxation while surrounded by centuries of history. After settling in, we’ll gather for a sumptuous dinner in the castle’s fine dining room, followed by an evening of unforgettable Irish music—closing the day with heritage, flavor, and fun in a truly regal setting.

Day Four – Castles, Cruises & Coastal Wonders

Today’s journey takes us deep into the heart of Ireland’s northwest, beginning with a visit to the enchanting Parke’s Castle, a beautifully restored 17th-century plantation castle nestled on the tranquil shores of Lough Gill in County Leitrim. Steeped in history and framed by spectacular lake views, the castle offers a fascinating window into Gaelic and colonial life in Ireland. Explore its towers, courtyards, and stone walls as you uncover the rich cultural legacy of this storied region.

From there, we step aboard the Rose of Innisfree, a charming cruise boat that glides across the mystical waters of Lough Gill, immortalized in the poetry of William Butler Yeats. As we sail past wooded islands and hidden coves—including the legendary Lake Isle of Innisfree—you’ll enjoy a leisurely onboard lunch accompanied by a sing song and session with Joanie, Mary and Bruce, creating a truly immersive experience where nature, literature, and melody meet.

Our afternoon brings us to Atlantic Sheepdogs, where skilled local shepherds demonstrate the centuries-old art of sheep herding with their remarkably trained border collies. Watching man and dog work together in perfect rhythm is both inspiring and a testament to rural Ireland’s enduring traditions.

We then travel on to Mullaghmore Head, one of Ireland’s most dramatic coastal locations. Here, the wild Atlantic air and sweeping views of Benbulben Mountain and the rugged coastline will take your breath away—a landscape that has long stirred the imaginations of artists, writers, and adventurers alike.

As the day winds down, we return to the opulent Kilronan Castle, where another evening of Irish hospitality awaits. Indulge in a fine dinner, perhaps enjoy a stroll around the illuminated castle grounds, and settle in for an evening of music, storytelling, and warm camaraderie with your fellow travelers.

Day Five – Westport Charm & Connemara’s Wild Beauty

This morning, we bid farewell to the elegance and tranquility of Kilronan Castle and set out on a scenic journey through the heart of the West of Ireland. Our destination is the vibrant town of Westport in County Mayo, a colorful gem known for its Georgian charm, tree-lined streets, and lively atmosphere.

Upon arrival, you’ll have time to explore Westport at your leisure. Browse its delightful boutiques, stroll along the picturesque Carrowbeg River, or visit the stately Westport House, once home to the legendary Pirate Queen, Grace O’Malley. When hunger calls, enjoy lunch on your own—there’s no shortage of cozy cafés, gourmet restaurants, and traditional pubs to tempt your palate.

In the early afternoon, we gather at the legendary Matt Molloy’s Pub, owned by the world-renowned flutist of The Chieftains for a session. This iconic pub is a magnet for traditional musicians and fans from near and far. Step inside and soak up its authentic atmosphere, tap your feet to a few spirited live tunes, and savor a perfectly poured pint of Guinness—a true Westport experience!

From there, we journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Connemara, a region famed for its rugged mountains, shimmering lakes, and windswept bogs. This is Ireland at its wildest and most poetic, a place that has inspired writers, painters, and musicians for centuries.

Our day ends in the charming town of Clifden, where we check in to the welcoming Abbeyglen Castle Hotel. Nestled at the foot of the Twelve Bens mountain range and overlooking Clifden Bay, this 19th-century castle offers a magical setting to relax and recharge.

In the evening, we’ll gather for a gourmet dinner in the castle’s elegant dining room, followed by an unforgettable night of traditional Irish music and storytelling—a perfect close to a day filled with beauty, culture, and camaraderie.

Day Six – The Magic of Connemara

Today is dedicated to immersing ourselves in the breathtaking natural splendor and rich cultural heritage of Connemara, one of Ireland’s most unspoiled and evocative landscapes. After breakfast, we set out for the crown jewel of the region—Kylemore Abbey. This iconic 19th-century abbey is one of the most photographed sites in Ireland and was originally built as a romantic castle before becoming a Benedictine monastery. Kylemore Abbey tells a story of love, loss, faith, and resilience. You’ll have time to explore the beautifully restored neo-Gothic church, wander the lavish Victorian rooms, and stroll through the six-acre Victorian Walled Garden—one of Ireland’s largest and most beautiful—alive with vibrant floral displays and elegant glasshouses. All of this unfolds against the dramatic backdrop of the Twelve Bens Mountain Range.

In the afternoon, we return to the town of Clifden, often called the “Capital of Connemara.” Here, you’ll enjoy free time to explore its quaint streets filled with galleries, artisan shops, and inviting cafés. Lunch is on your own, with plenty of options from hearty Irish fare to freshly caught seafood.

Later, we embark on one of Ireland’s most scenic drives—the famed Sky Road—a breathtaking loop that winds high above the Atlantic Ocean, revealing sweeping views of rugged coastline, scattered islands, and rolling green hills. It’s the perfect way to savor the raw beauty of Connemara before returning to Abbeyglen Castle.

Tonight, we gather for a memorable meal with the evening wrapping up in the castle’s intimate music room. It will be a magical night to remember with Joanie, Mary and their special musical guests!

Day Seven – Connemara to Galway, the Burren to a Medieval Banquet at Bunratty Castle: Our Final Chapter

We leave Connemara and begin our day in the vibrant heart of the City of Galway, with free time to shop, stroll its colorful streets, and soak up the lively arts and café culture that make this city one of Ireland’s most beloved.

From there, we journey south through the otherworldly limestone landscapes of The Burren, before arriving at Oliver’s Backroom Series for an intimate house session. Here, in the company of local musicians and storytellers, we’ll enjoy lunch and an afternoon filled with music, song, and the kind of stories that stay with you long after you’ve left Ireland’s shores.

Our journey continues to Ennis where we will check into the historic Old Ground Hotel and enjoy some time to relax before we gather in the evening for a festive farewell evening at the famous Bunratty Castle's Medieval Dinner. It will be a joyful final night of music, laughter, and camaraderie—celebrating the friendships formed and the wonderful memories made during this unforgettable week together.

Day Eight – Slán go fóill and Safe Home!

This morning, we depart for Shannon Airport in County Clare, ensuring everyone arrives with ample time to check in, clear U.S. immigration and customs, and prepare for the journey home. There will also be time to browse duty-free and pick up a few last-minute treasures to carry with you.

As we part ways, we do so with hearts full of music, laughter, and cherished memories from our unforgettable time together. We hope you leave with new friendships, stories to share, and the spirit of Ireland lingering long after your return home.
